Scientists have estimated that there are around 8.7 million species of plants and animals in existence on Earth. However, only around 1.2 million species have been identified and described so far, most of which are insects. Humans account for just 0.01% of living biomass of the planet so yes, we have enough to eat.

It's very close. But the group that wrote "Diary of a Teenage Hellworlder" said they wanted to rewrite the story and fix some things about it. After which nearly nothing followed for a year, as far as I know. It could be one member of that group rewriting it or just a new version they all made together. I guess we will have to see how many differences there are to the other story in future episodes.

I'm very confused about this specific story progression being powered by "Herbivores are scared of carnivores eating them" They're all sentient species. Why are the relationships boiling down to what you eat? It's not like an instinctual kill on sight kind of thing. It's like they're expecting the human to be chewing on their tablemate's hand after he sits down
@joseph1150
@joseph1150 15 күн бұрын
It's a trope from HFY and humans are space orc subreddits. Many of the herbivore species first filters were predation by meat eaters. Most of these "original" stories are either ripped from Reddit without credit or put through a word salad AI filter to make it "original".

The setting seems wildly improbable to me as I would think that sapient life could evolve under even harsher conditions and the most difficult things that might prevent them from becoming space faring, providing they overcame every other challenge on their planet would be gravity, or lack of essential resources. I can't imagine the harsh, deadly universe we live in would be gentle enough to allow the galaxy to be controlled by species less hardy, resourceful and deadly than ourselves.
@TheAyanamiRei
@TheAyanamiRei 2 күн бұрын
Well that's because we have only explored a tiny fraction of our own Galaxy, much less the Universe. We don't know what other life could be like. It's also possible that they had some harashness, but they had long since become peaceful. Not unlike the Vulcans or the Asgard from Stargate SG-1. Only like the Asgards their bodies became more and more frail as there became less of a need for physical strength. It's possible they naturally and quickly evolved into a Communist Society for instance. Maybe they didn't have any in-species aggression, because resources were always so plentiful

It's important to note that a lower gravity makes changing your momentum more difficult. Starting and stopping takes more effort. You have to lean further in order to exert the same amount of walking force. 5x lower gravity, means you'd have to lean 5x more in order to start walking.

Down side: Needs an editor, desperately. Excited vs exited... little things like that. Very jarring, pulls you out of the story. Also, need to have a closer eye to consistent spelling/pronunciation on the subtitles. How many ways can you spell the teachers name? Let me count.....🤔

Think went a bit OTT with the giant vampire bats when in fact they only make a smallish cut on their victim then lap the blood that oozes out of the wound while saliva stops the blood from congealing their biggest danger comes more from the shear number of bats that target the same animal and drain it dry and infection from the open wound that’s left after they finish feeding

at 21:30 Gym instructor Koker should have had a gym where each lane of the racetrack had its own artificial gravity. Then he would have had to ask Diana for her student ID with her homeworld gravity encoded in it. Upon reading off the necessary settings . . . he then would have been astounded. "Object fall bvegts of length at kahns of time per kahns of time ? ? ? Truly, you come from a Deathworld ! ! !" BTW having watched videos of the Apollo astronuats on the Moon, "running" in 1/6 gravity would require a truly bizarre technique, possibly use of just the hands with a special twist to assure the hands make first contact after a very low, almost flat trajectory.

I don't see what muscle mass has to do with being a carnivore/predator. Many herbivores/prey are very muscular, to be able to run or climb, to flee and survive. Have these aliens never actually observed the uninhabited planets around them? These stories are always amusing, but so damn humanity is awesome mostly. Also get the other side that humans are always fucked, though those I don't see often on KZbin.. The concept of star farers evolving upon a world with very few threats makes no sense to me. If a world is on 'easy mode' , why would intelligence actually evolve when it's unneeded to live and thrive? Would seem to me only worlds with many threats would have the challenges that big brains need to form. Otherwise it's not worth the energy expenditure to have high intelligence. Sorry to diss the concept but WHY would planets and animals that don't intelligence evolve it? I would agree that Earth has two death continents, Australia and and Antarctica yet humans live there today. Hope I am not coming off like a dick.
