Earth, Wind & Fire are one of the most dynamic and creative funk bands to come out of the seventies and also one of the most successful. The group was led by Maurice White and this new DVD & CD release captures them on stage in Japan in1990 during the last tour that Maurice made with the group following the release of the "Heritage" album. Spectacularly staged as ever, the concert features all their best loved songs.
The DVD is out now and includes the hits "Let's Groove", "September", "System Of Survival", "Fantasy", "After The Love Has Gone", "Shining Star", and more.

Back in the early 90's I was 16 and just graduated from music school ( that's the way we called it in Russia ) Western music was becoming freely accessible and thats when I got a hold of a tape of EWandF. I was in shock aftef first song played-this song. I couldn't believe that vocals such as these were possible, I didn't know who the singers were, I didn't know if they were white or black or Asian or aliens-i just fell in love with this band instantly. Then after coming to the States I bought everything these guys ever recorded. I have read about these musicians and got to know them, but the most important lesson that I learned was-true music that's created by true artist makes races and all differences disappear, and that's what let's your sole fly-the feeling of oneness. We are all one.

(Wikipedia...) Earth, Wind & Fire member Verdine White revealed that "After the Love Has Gone" was one of their most difficult songs to record: "The track was based on a vibe. We cut it about six, seven times, and Maurice just said, "No, it's not right yet. We'll come back and get it tomorrow. It's not right yet". And then one day we nailed it, and it was right. The way it felt. It sounded like Earth, Wind & Fire". Id.

I started following EWF in High School in the early 1970's. Our Community would Charter a Bus to go see them in Concert on Long Island or in Manahattan. I have seen them LIVE more than any other group. Probably 10 or so times over the years. I have never been disappointed. Their Energy brings people together.
