tickytock85 hello! To be honest as a young kid living in the San Fernando Valley in the good ol’ 80’s and 90’s, I had no idea how famous he was. His daughter was my friend and still is, she is and always has been super down to earth. His sons were also very grounded, kind, religious and very respectful. Philip never acted like a “ Super Celebrity” he always showed us by example how to be respectful, enjoy various cultures and different kinds of food and most of all he talked to us about life events & made sure he addressed even the most controversial issues as mentor & life coach! He wanted his kids and the kids they hung around with to be prepared for life & thus succeed academically & professionally! Amazing man!

I'm a singer too and I believe I can keep up with phillip in the singing arena. He probably doesn't remember The Happening Center that alot of us all went to as teenagers. The Woofolks lived right down the street on 39th and Franklin St. here in Denver, Colorado. That was probably in 1966 or 1967. Wow, a long time ago. Hey Phillip. Growing up as teenagers in South Africa in the 70's and through the struggle years, my brother and I collected all their albums from "Head to the sky" all the way up to their CD and DVD collections. In 2010, when my brother died, his last request was that no hymns be sung at his funeral only EWF's music. His final send song off was Fantasy. Never heard this version before .... I'm alone in my room, and when the song appeared to finish, and Phillip was improvising - and then breaks into the famous "Do-a-weeeee-ooh-ee-ooh!" ... I got out of my chair and clapped, before the audience in the video did. And I know this song very well - but it's a different live version where he does a Q & A with the sax player ("he plays so beautiful! Don't you agree?") ... as a teenage trumpet player, I jammed along to this song so hard, especially the Q & A, that I was sure to eventually turn professional. Which I did.

I took my son to see Earth Wind and Fire after being cancelled twice because of Covid. I love EWF and I relive the best days of my life with their music. My son remembers me playing their music when he was growing up and I was surprised how much he loves their music. Philip Bailey is a Jewel from Denver.❤

Just saw EWF May 2022 in concert. So great to see three of the founding members still giving it their all! Phillip is still amazing and Verdine kept that bass line going strong! Thanks for all the wonderful memories in my “growing up” years back in the 70’s and beyond ❤️‍🔥

For me the most poignant moment of this song is the playing of the horns by the late Don Myrick. He met such an unfortunate death that still makes me angry to this day. Sometimes when I think of him I just shed a tear.

+OldeSkool1 I was there in 1981 too! As a matter of fact I was 12 years old and my buddy Rich and I got robbed for our tickets coming up the stairs from BART by two black dudes! They pulled a knife on us and we were happy to provide them with our tickets as they clearly really wanted to see the concert. LOL! Luckily I persuaded the security guards to let us in to see the show! My how things have changed, two twelve year old kids allowed to go to a concert w/o parents and the security didn't even question us. Still, one hellava friggin show!! Love EWF, and I'm a Metal Head!
