It is hair color that makes people question the lightness of skin even more. As a child, Kit does definitely looked mixed-race. As an adult woman, she looks more Eurocentric.She is ambiguous but she is also beautiful. My former roommate was black but very fair with curly hair. She used a curl straightener and most all white people always thought whe was white. She could have passed for white if she'd wanted to but she never did. She always reminded people that she is black.

Tamron - what do you mean your son is "fair" skinned?! So what is someone with 'unfair' skin then? I'm a biracial person of both biracial parents. The truth is that Black people for the most part don't have this conversation because among those who tend to be greater thinkers, we're not interested in talking or catering to ignorant people of any race. A genuine interest re my ethnic makeup is one thing, but an ignorant nosey interest is another. I grew up in Washington DC for which I'm eternally grateful, where Black people's skin color runs the gamut and beautiful rainbow from beautiful dark purple hue to coloring similar to Kitt McDonald, and no one ever tripped about it. Now when I left home and come to S. California I soon realized I was in another world where people are very very race / color conscience. It initially was taken aback at how 'curious' they were. I soon realized they had no experiences to compare me with, they'd been nowhere to speak of and were simply uneducated be they Black, White, etc. Tamron - let me preface all of this with a question: Who are you having this conversation for?

Eartha Kitt said in a documentary she never knew who her father was, but it was said by her family members that her father was white.

Eartha's mother was of African and Cherokee heritage. Eartha didn't know her father, but it was speculated, highly likely to be true given it was the 1920s, that her mother was r*ped. It is thought it was the son of the owner of the plantation where Eartha was born. This would make Eartha mixed race and people do say they are mixed even with 2 ethnicities.

As I said earlier compare her to southern, eastern and Mediterranean people who look nothing like other white, blonde hair and blue eyes Europeans. Many southern Europeans have North African DNA going back thousands of years and are mixed but are considered white/European. Also, google images of Mediterranean people, they look completely different than fair complexion European. As an A..A I am quite familiar with mixed African Americans and most A.A are mixed.

This comes from the Library of Medicine and the name of the article to google is "The Genetic Ancestry of African Americans, Latinos, and European Americans across the United States." I'm 45% European, 53% sub-Saharan African, 2% Native American
