I'm reading all these odd and strange comments, and I just don't GET IT. Basically, this young woman is lovely, what she has to say about her mother is beautiful. I am thrilled to have her tell me about her mother, and what a wonderful mother she was to her daughter. When I was young I thought Eartha Kitt was extraordinary and interesting, now I realize that she was all of that and more, and reared a beautiful and down to earth daughter. She down to earth, and NORMAL and mostly down to Earth.

+mayiamiles I always liked Eartha, although I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Hearing her daughter speak so lovingly about her, now I know why. Somehow Eartha was able to express all that goodness by saying little. What a lovely (body, mind and spirit) she was, as is her daughter. Made me smile to see this interview. :)

I saw Eartha Kitt perform when she was seventy years old......she came out in a silver lame gown....and you heard the audience gasp.....she then proceeded to blow the audience away for the next hour and a half.....She was a class act, professionally, and privately.......

I saw Ms. Kitt live when she was 79, in Palm Beach. She put that audience in the palm of her hand for about two hours.. and they loved her.. and she loved them right back. There was an amazing energy and bond that evening. Will never forget it.

I also saw her in her later years and I was luck enough to be sitting in the front row . I'll always remember when she was singing a song , she made eye contact directly with me. I read another comment from à woman whose husband also experienced the same thing as me.. Eartha made her puvluc feel loved and apreciated. Ms Kitt always said that her favorite director was her audience... What a classy, elegant and MOST Respectful LADY..

I agree they look very similar, especially their mouths and chins. And Kitt isn't the first "white looking" mixed raced child. Donna Summer's daughter Mimi, Victoria Rowell's daughter Maya Fahey or Quincy Jones's daughter Rashida. People are so hung up on race and don't realize that we are all just humans.

I must say from what I've read and learned it in a very brief time, Eartha seemed like a stand up woman! I am awed by her story, and inspired by it. She makes me want to be a part of change, all the good change that is happening in the world even more now. A beautiful woman with a beautiful soul who left a beautiful impact on this world. Respect.

Realtalk MyBrother I'm biracial and I grew up in the 90s in NJ. I experienced what Eartha Kitt went through. Just because your son has green eyes and never experienced being discriminated by black ppl doesn't mean it never happened. I have green eyes too. I was bullied by black girls in school because I am very light, green eyes, and "good hair". My hair is very thick and white girls also uses to pick on me and say I'm hair is nappy, and I couldn't swim in this white girl pool because I would get grease in the pool. I got it from both sides and I'm born and rasied in NJ. Can't imagine what she went through in the south during that time.

Thanx very much for posting this great, informative video. I'm glad that I got a chance to see Eartha perform. It was very late in her career (in Wash DC), w/i a year or 2 of her death. 2 things stood to me in her performance. First was how lively and energetic her performance was. You'd never have guessed that she was 80 y/o or so. And she seemed to love performing, like this was what she was born to do. She reminds me of Marlene Dietrich or Judy Garland in this way, and I think the photo of her of Judy and her together in this video is fitting. Second, her legs looked fantastic! At 80 y/o she wore a dress slit all the way up the side to the hip and she looked good! From where I was sitting, her legs looked like those of a 25 y/o. Thank you, Eartha, and RIP.

Eartha Kitt did a great job raising her daughter. She seems to be a beautiful person in and out , just like her mom. I am not so sure about the interviewer though ..what was her intention when she asked the question "Did you understand really what was going on?...that you may be a little bit better than your mom because you were lighter skinned". WTF? She didn't show any empathy either during those heartfelt stories.. to me she seems to be another wolf in sheep's clothing!

🦋 Now it’s 2023 & I would love to hear more from Ms Kitt Shapiro,... this interview was wonderful. 🦋 I remember in 2008 when Ldy. Eartha Kitt finished her life journey,... but I didn’t know that her daughter Ms Kitt really gave a excellent historical account on her mother!!! 🦋 I wonder if anyone can still purchase the legendary Eartha Kitt’s Kittisms Karma booklets on her website,... gonna look into that right now after I finish watching this. 🦋🤎🦋 Thank you so much for sharing this beauti’lvvy interview!!!!

This interview was very enjoyable to listen to. Earth Kitt was so artistic and unique. She was against war especially the Vietnam war. She wasn't one to stay silent. When she spoke out against the war her career went south; gone. They I think turned against her. Very brave woman. The interviewer was very empathetic and understanding. I loved her and now seeing her daughter's pride when speaking of her makes me proud to be a fan of her. What a great name and great artist. For the haters, the interviewer did a great job.

I was not only lucky enough to be at one of her performances in Barcelona; I was blessed enough to meet the great legend herself. Miss Kitt, asked me about my life, my bringing up, my hopes for the future. Amazing, amazing lady. Sweetheart, there were several Lena Horns, ie: Dorothy Dandridge but there was only one, Eartha Kitt.

I saw Eartha Kitt many years ago in that wonderful B'way show "New Faces of 1952 and I've been a fan of hers all of my life. Eartha was a very unique womanher spoke her own mind. Sometimes to a fault, but that was Eartha. She had a big heart and was hurt by many people in Show Business, but she survived. Her likes will never be seen again.

Eartha kitt was a true super star in this world and or the world of entertainment we may have actors and singers running over but we are given very few true super stars and Eartha was one of the few true talents of our time as long as she's remember and kept in our hearts she will live on for many years to come God bless her and I thank her and her daughter kitt for making Eartha live on through her works.

Your anger is certainly justified. The interviewer was ignorant perhaps because she never experienced prejudice (other than being a female I'm sure) herself. When my friend Karen and I became friends I told her that if I ever say anything racially insensitive that she should know it comes from ignorance and that I want her to educate me. The only time she did in our 22 year friendship was when I was an election judge and told her how weird the people working that poll were. I walked in with a smile, said hello and asked where I was most needed. Not only did no one answer or simply not look at me, but they continued as they were as though I had never come in. I said to Karen, "It was like I was invisible!." She responded, "Now you know how it feels to be black." I got schooled.
