~ #timholtz #rangerink in Moss and Sienna
~ #dalerrowney fw acrylic ink in Payne's grey
~ touched up with a little warm grey acrylic ink (not filmed)

~ I chat about the piece and a little about what I'm doing for the first 8 minutes. Then i hush 🤫
~ The video is in real time up to 6:45 because I wanted to show you that, while this medium evaporates fast, you have time to lay the foundations down when you use enough alcohol, and it's worth you seeing the real speed with which I work. From there on, the footage is sped up.
~ I zoom in on the piece for a closer look while I'm working at just after 23 minutes.
Yes, I am absolutely wearing a respirator when I create with alcohol inks- please make sure you do too!

Wow, you are so creative! Do you have an idea of what you want to achieve, or do you just start, put down some ink, and ‘go with the flow’? I’m mystified by the process, and how do you know when to stop? So many questions, as I don’t have a creative mind, so acrylic and resin work with it’s happy accidents, is my only real outlet. I love your work! 👏🌟

Susan, you're so lovely to say all this. Thank you 😘 It's not too often i go in with plans. I have feelings that I try to translate. Like, a mood i want to create. I work intuitively because then i get to work WITH what's in front of me, rather than become disappointed that it was not how i thought it should be- does that make sense? It's all just feeling, to me. I can look at something and know the composition isn't moving how i want it to, so that tells me where to go and when something is done. It's a creative muscle- the more you do, the more it feels natural 😘

Thank you Cecelia! The inks i use are made by the brands Copic and Ranger. My favourite metallic is brass, by Pinata. I use Yupo, Grafix and Nara papers (in this particular video, i used Nara). I buy 100% isopropyl aclohol to move the inks, but if you can't get it that pure, anything above 90% will be fine. Make sure you wear a respirator suitable for toxic vapours when you work with inks! ❤️

I use krylon kamar, and then krylon UV archival 😄
