I'm estimating you shook for over two minutes. That's a long time for a quake. I'm estimating you were about 400 km from the epicenter, so that's lots of shaking considering the large distance. I live in Southern California, so I've my share of quakes. I was in Tokyo a few months before this one struck, so I missed it. I'm glad your calendars survived. ;)

That must have taken a great deal of courage to sit through that to film the footage, congratulations! I would have escaped just like your suitcase wanted to...👏👏👏💯

This is a very interesting video. A lot of videos were outdoors or in places with lots of windows. This is just an ordinary apartment like any other. You get a better feel for the strength of the earthquake without all the screaming and running and window breaking. Even with this, it is very strong.

It's awful. You can't see movement only junk moving but no real building or ground. The camera was moving too much to see.

I was in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. It was so minor compared to this.

Hello, we are a TV documentary production company from Germany called ECO Media TV producing different documentaries for several German TV stations. Currently we are working on a project about earthquakes in metropolitan areas with a focus on Mexico City, Istanbul and Tokyo. The 52-minute-documentary is produced by us on behalf of the German TV station ARTE. During our research we came across your footage and were wondering if you are the copyright owner of this video. If so, we would like to ask if we will be allowed to use it in our upcoming project. If not we would be happy if you could refer us to the copyright owner. Your cooperation will be very much appreciated. Hope to hear from you. Best regards, Vegas von Vogelstein from the ECO Media TV Team our website is: ecomediatv.de/en/ you can reply via email if you like: dokumentation@ecomediatv.de
