People might roll their eyes for another three hundred years but the longer the time between the quakes the stronger they predict it will be. As a subduction zone that activates every three hundred years this can never be good news but it is a wait and watch situation.

I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 34 years and experienced several earthquakes, including the quake of '89. In a storage unit next to my house, I kept canned food, water, extra clothes, a tent, and assorted camping equipment. I didn't know anyone else who prepared for the inevitable. I think their plan was to rely on the government. If hundreds of thousands are in need of immediate assistance, what are the chances you'll be number one on the list? Buy several days worth of necessities and plan on taking care of yourself. Don't tell lots of other people you have stored supplies. When people are hungry and thirsty, they will take what they need by force. Get ready, and keep your mouth shut.

You see that over and over, the difference between prepared and determined and those expecting the government to do everything for them. And, if big daddy government gives prep ideas and warnings, and says to evacuate or wear a mask, they blow it off and after, sue big daddy, right? The mask thing is just bewildering! Something so simple and helpful! I have worn one during dust storms and weeks and weeks of smoke from fires...even vacuuming in the old days before good filters. People in other countries have worn them in severe smog or disease outbreaks...It just makes good sense. This is a real change in common sense and values. It is really fear driven by manipulators. We must use caution during disasters not to get caught up in crazy rumors and other fear-driven paranoia

Having worked and lived in the Portland area, I have my doubts that the majority of people living in this area would fair very well. As soon as the grid goes down, most would freak out. Without cell phones and city services life would be extremely difficult for them. Most of the houses held up by stilts on the hillsides, on loose wet soil, would collapse. Honestly, the people most likely to survive would be the homeless. In my opinion.

Most of the people I know can field dress a deer, grow a garden, sew their own clothes, and prepare beans 25 different ways. These are the people whose descendants will populate the earth post Armageddon. I was in a dental office in Lacey with my two kids. I have been in many earthquakes over the years so I usually wait before I get "excited". After 20 seconds and panels falling down from the roof I got out of there. There were quite a few anxious parents in the parking lot worried about their children..no cell phones were working. I did my best to assure them that their kids were ok and that this was really not a very serious quake. Our cell phones came back on fairly quickly so everyone left. I understood their concerns. Quakes are scarey especially if you have never experienced one in the 6 range.

I love the coastal Pacific Northwest, although I'm a Florida resident, I've spent some of the most enjoyable weeks of my life in your neck of the woods, after decades of distant study. And, I've survived a direct hit from a Cat 5 hurricane, one of the 4-strongest to hit the US mainland in the past 170 years, Michael. Earthquakes and volcanoes, things we don't have here, seem so MUCH more terrifying. Mainly because with a hurricane, a 24-hours warning is expected as a minimum. For these geologic disasters, the warning would be measured in minutes at best. Still, I wish I could relocate there. I'm 68, and I figure the odds are this megaquake and its tsunami will be after I'm gone. If it were to kill me, at least I would've enjoyed my final years in a far better place. 32:39 Kinda optimistic that cell phones will be working. 34:19 Less than a gallon per day per person of potable water is necessary. Potable is what you need for hydration and food preparation. If you've got a source of non-potable, such as a swimming pool, that works just fine for things like flushing toilets and cleaning. 34:39 In our two week power outage, it was very helpful to have a power inverter for the car. Periodically running the car's engine to keep the battery charged, it permitted recharging battery cells, and powering radio. We also took solar powered eave lighting indoors to provide lighting at night, and only experienced darkness when desired. My biggest regret in the aftermath of Michael was that I didn't possess a camp stove, and bought one shortly afterward for any future crisis. Hot coffee and hot meals are worth the entry fee. Assuming you survive the disaster, you've got to think about being in a camping situation for weeks.

I noticed it to also I noticed the crack on the ground near the classroom, the crack was running underneath our classroom that's what had me feeling that there was going to be an earthquake and our classroom was going to split in half. Well the earthquake happened 2-3 days later and our classroom was damaged by the earthquake, one student was injured in the quake. My friend and I told the janitor, teacher that there was going to be an earthquake and our classroom was going to split in half also someone was going to get hurt. But they didn't listen so I was so persistent about it that I even got put on detention, the next day I kept telling the teacher to move the desks back or forward, she still didn't listen. I had forged my mom's signature so that way I could get the principal to listen to me, he told me why didn't you just come and talk to me I told him I did but he was busy. Well I wasn't there at school when the earthquake happened and just like I told them the classroom did split in half and kids got hurt. My friend listened to me and he moved his desk which it saved him from falling into the ground. The teacher told me when I came back to school on Monday, because they ended up getting a new classroom (portable) and she apologized to me. I was at my grandmas house when it happened because I had a dentist appointment that day, I ended up seeing my school on the news. I was never mentioned about it that I tried to prevent someone to get injured, but they didn't care that I was doing what my angels were warning me so that I can warn other people. I learned by paying attention to my dog and the weather, so when I put how the weather patterns are happening on a day to day basis plus how the noises my dog made that's when I knew it's going to be an earthquake. Pay attention to animals also the weather you will know approximately when it's coming. I have predicted a lot of earthquakes were going to happen but people don't like to listen to me.

It's in the USGS database, I was living in Hayward when one of the earthquakes happened and the other one was when I was at my grandmas house, I had a dentist appointment that day, but my mom had changed it to later on that day. The dentist was going to put this girl in my seat where I was supposed to be in but at the last minute he changed his mind and decided to put the girl back in the chair where she was at the first time. After he did that the earthquake happened and a big slab of the ceiling fell right where her head would have been but instead she was saved because he remembered what I had said to them. Japan is on the ocean. Seattle is inland and between it and the Cascadia faultline is a 7,000+' tall mountain range. @@morgangrey4020 - Seattle does not sit in a bay, San Francisco does. Seattle is in a very large sound of water which is 10 miles wide. The entrance to the sound to Seattle is quite a distance. From the ocean to the entrance of the Puget Sound is 100 miles through the Straight of Juan de Fuca. To downtown Seattle after that brings it up to 139 miles. Again, no historical/archeological evidence of tsunami damage to Seattle with the last huge Cascadia quake. Nothing in the oral tradition of the native tribes here. The damage was to the coast. If the compressor was running and you dis-conrected the power cord and immediately reconnected power, the compressor did not have a chance to cycle down and it would most likely cause it to overload and cut out the relay. If you cut power you should let about 5 minutes pass before reconnecting it.

The death toll of 8500....is a very very conservative number,also a lot depends on the time of year and the weather....Could see thousands die from exposure alone...mainly young kids and the elderly and disabled and those who need machines(oxygen makers,Cpap,and other devices.). The wounded will be from after the quake,as they try to get out or attempt to help others.

I don't know why this popped up under videos KZbin suggests I watch. But we are nearly a week after a 5.7 magnitude quake that occurred at 7:09 am in Salt lake city, UT on March 18, 2020. And let me tell you, it definitely rocked my world and opened my eyes to my preparedness ... Or lack there of. Good thing I happen to keep shoes under my bed and a flashlight next to my bed, because of my paranoid fear of a quake happening during the night. It all came in handy after our quake, because the power went out almost immediately, leaving us stunned and in the dark after the. It wouldn't get light enough to see anything for another 20 to 30 minutes. That was my first earthquake experience ever, and the most terrifying thing I have ever experienced. And now have PTSD, cant sleep or relax and anxious about another quake. Since the initial earthquake, we have had far more than 300 aftershocks that have been significant enough to rumble our entire house and splash the water out of our fish tanks....its been horrible!!! 😖😭👎 please stop shaking. Scary to hear that, that wasn't even the big one. 😱

The idea of having ideal , adequate and manageable mix of located refuges sounds like a good one ! That would enable rescue efforts to go first to the least satisfactory refuges.and thereby potentially saving many more lives ! Same goes for structures. Buildings pre rated on level of capacity to withstand earthquake would assist in prioritising rescue ! Being prepared can help against panic surely ! Drills could help create solidarity and fight panic in the event of catastrophe. The pillowcase project sounds great. Kids having one under the bed . Like a treasure trove exercising the imagination in ways that prepare. As a design teacher and psychotherapist , I would say that a combination of practical and imagination stimulating communication within homes, schools and other communities, always including some light hearted elements to ensure that over-activated anxiety is not stimulated ! People need to know for instance, that being very fortunate can sometimes create exaggerated fear of loss ! That hidden or unappreciated capacities can emerge as vital in emergencies. That an emergency need not necessarily be a disaster ! Growth as a human being can be an outcome too !

Jamie Miranda, you cannot prepare for this to Survive the consequences of the opening of the 6th Seal Earthsquake. YOU need to prepare for the Day of the Rapture, when the Lord Jesus Christ is coming for HIS Bride. Water and everything else is coming in until the 110° LL. And what the East Coast line concerned, you have to stay behind the 90° LL.

Pink Lady , the Situation for USA is exactly very complicated. 1st) I Need to know your up to Date Location. Why? Because Judgement is starting long before the opening of the 6th Seal. Judgement will start with the beginning of inner transfiguration of the selected Bride of Christ Jesus. That beginning is a Marker for Judgement of the World, which I believe will start in the Eastcoast Side of the America continents. If you live in the Eastcoast of North American continent, you better leave Newfoundland, everything east of North- and South Carolina mountain Range ( Think of what John Denver is singing about), you better leave NY state and City. Furthermore leave Puerto Rico , the Caribbean Islands, Florida state, Miami City. The mid West of USA is for the Time being a more Safe Zone! Between 90° and 110° LL. But the mid - West of USA is being treatened for thermo - Nuclear Destruction. The only real safe Protection = become a Christian. Have a Relation with the Lord Jesus Christ, without being connected to any "christian" Church Organisation. The Lord Jesus Christ hates Religion, but He Loves to See Faith in the Heart of mankind. If you have more questions, Contact me, I stand ready for everyone!
@johannstaal4987

Pink Lady , the situation for everyone is a Personal dicission! If you want to go, and your husband , Friend or whatever, not ? Go, yourself. About Judgment: the plates in the North and South Pacific will Break and shift, bringing Tsunami 's Inland, far deeper than the San Andreas fault lines. And the Intensity of an 6th Seal Earth Quake is not a 9.0 on RS, more 2 - 3 x the 12.0 RS. 2500 square Miles will shift West: from Anchorage, Shifting SE, Vancouver, SE Into Pacific, Seattle West Into Pacific, Salt Lake City , West and Sinking Into the Dessert sand, Phoenix and Las Vegas shift in the direction of Colorado river, which I believe is a Situation like the Andreas fault line opening up. Everything shifts West. All Major Cities ( 45) will eventually be destroyed.
