One handy extra thingy is a guard for the direction selector. In my 650 max a christmas tree branch would regularly catch the lever and force it backwards, with a loud grinding from gearbox. We fixed it with a rod that is higher than the lever and sits right outside and front of this lever.

I'm planning on getting a 779, thinking of the recoil start as it's cheaper and seems pretty easy to start, and less to go wrong and no battery to deal with. Do you have a preference as to the recoil start versus electric start models? Pros and cons of each? Can an electric start be added to the recoil start model in the future if need be? Thanks - I just can't decide between the RS and ES.

If you don't plan to be using this on a regular basis, just save yourself the hassle of the potentially dead battery and go with a pull start.

I still like the BCS machines but I find them excessively priced. 8 years ago I was looking for a "commercial" use machine know what? In the end I bought a Tractor. My Zetor with 311 hours (Looking like new) cost me $3400 equipped w/plow, blade and bushog. Then I bought a Troy Bilt Horse (Used). The TB and Zetor was ballpark the same price as a used BCS in great shape w/mower and tiller. Go figure......

If you want value you went with the right choice, a budget brand and a used one at that. Good for you.
