I swear if you compare nowadays trends to the 90's, you won't find any major difference, except that the quality it used to have is gone, and that people are more depressed.

Agreed. Back then entertainment was about making people happy. The movies, music, everything about today just feels too heavy and oppressive. Entertainment today is all about reminding people of how trashy life can be, instead of providing them with some sweet escapism. That's why I only entertain myself with old stuff or stuff from other cultures, but I don't want to be anywhere near modern Western entertainment.
