Looks & sounds gorgeous! The first two Earthworm Jims are gems now fading in video game history, but revered by true gamers who know how special these games truly were. Stands right next to any other great title; Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, Super Castlevania IV, etc.

I still have yet to play the second game! I'd love to play it some day though. And indeed, this is a really fantastic game. What really helps it stand out is its hand drawn visuals that have all the expressiveness of a Saturday morning cartoon. Speaking of, I still gotta watch the cartoon some day too.
@harqalada654 жыл бұрын
@@MrEightThreeOne The sequel is a blast! Though I still prefer the first one. The unique art style, sound effects, zany character & jokes; make the games feel so distinct & special. Not to mention that absolutely killer soundtrack! Man it's been ages since I seen the cartoon, I remember it having the same crazy personality as the games.

Its sad how many of the 90s and even now early 2000s games are fading into history. Especially platformers are getting more and more obscure.

@@kaneofnod I actually use a capture card! All my recent videos have been done on real 90s hardware. This one was done using a cheap USB HDMI capture card, but my more recent ones are done on a fancier internal Elgato HDMI capture card. The source computer is converted using a VGA to HDMI adapter.

This game, especially this particular port, is what I consider to be my favorite computer game of all time. I played a lot of games on my Packard Bell as a child, but this one provided some of the most memorable moments of those days with laughing at certain aspects of the game and most notably, being terrified of Big Bruty. Big Bruty is actually my favorite part of Earthworm Jim just because of how stupid the concept of Big Bruty is, it's somehow hilarious. I could go on and on about this game, but I'll just leave it at that. Such an amazing game.

Haha, I see. Still can't say that makes me like it, but I guess it at least doesn't drive me crazy like For Pete's Sake does. And yeah, this is an incredibly good game (if relentlessly difficult), definitely one of my favorite fouth gen era platformers. I still gotta play the sequel at some point too.

The game stood out in many ways as a representative of the jump n run genre. In every discipline it was usually far superior to its genre colleagues. The graphic animations were a new level. I could hardly believe my eyes at the smooth movements of Earthworm Jim. Add to that the brilliant music by Tommy Tallarico, the precise gameplay and the wacky humor raised the game to the top of PC jump n runs.

Truly the best version. I hope one day there will be an easy to run Windows 98/ EA pc emulator that just boots without requiring any setup and then we can run this game on modern pcs. Currently using PCem to run on my new pc. That way I can use the fullscreen mode and get a synced stutter free gameplay, but for some reason, its running at 70Hz and gameplay speeds up a bit. But it's better than running natively on my windows 10 where I can't get fullscreen mode and window mode suffers from stutters. This version also seems to be the only one where you can make Jim piss by pressing F10,

I think this IS the best version. The Sega CD has lesser quality sounds and this one sounds crispier and cleaner. It even has the Big Bruty stage which I thought wasn't here. Glad I was wrong. Question is can I play this with a controller?
@MrEightThreeOne3 жыл бұрын
You can! I played it with a controller here in fact! It needs to be DirectInput compatible though, just a heads up -- and most DirectInput pads will treat the D-pad as a POV hat instead of an X and Y axis, but there might be a workaround I'm unaware of. It also needs to be said, this game for whatever reason doesn't register anything past the first four button numbers. I guess because when it came out it was still rare to find joysticks with more than four buttons, but they could have at least been a little forward thinking.

this was a very early Windows 95 game, so I strongly encourage if you have it and want to run it that you stick to Win9x. this version was truly the best of both worlds because you got the SNES grade color depth, but without the trash SNES sound and redbook audio. I probably played this about as equally in 1996 as I did Genesis in 1995. LOL I'm fairly certain I had some no death runs. I'm curious if I can duplicate that magic 25 years later.

@@MrEightThreeOne I can install Win98SE in a virtual machine and directly install the game without the need of any video or sound driver, because I remember that for win95 when trying to install toy story for PC I need use a driver to show 256 colors
@MrEightThreeOne5 жыл бұрын
@@pressstart4733 Well, I mean, you could do that in theory, but your color depth is going to be locked to 16 colors and you'll have no sound (unless it's a sound card that Windows already comes with drivers for). I absolutely love the OST in this game. I even have the original CD on me - but unfortunately it doesn't work for me, even on the older PC I purchased (it's got Vista on it). Music sounds fine but the sound effects are really glitchy. I even tried replacing a DLL file with a new one to no avail. Do you have any other recommendations by any chance on how to get the sound effects working properly? Or will I need to install a new partition on my old PC with Windows 98 on it? Cheers for your help

And no fog on what the heck. Last thing is it has an extended version of the use your head song with a guitar solo sega cd has short song.
