Hey Ziz, a little tip I'm trying to share to help get people through Act 1. Got Lance to try it yesterday. What you do is get Holy Flame Totem and link it with Summon Phantasm. It has a 0.25 cast time so against rares and bosses it continually summons the phantasms, and with consecrated ground they survive for a while as long as they aren't one shot. This gives a continual wall of bodies that will block anything blockable and pull aggro for you during harder fights. Good luck everyone.

One tip not mentioned is to constantly go back to town and bank good pieces, currency, or pieces you just replaced just in case you die. Think of this event like a rougelite and not a roguelike. The first gauntlet I did not do this and did not feel like starting over after dying in Act 4. Ever since caring about building a foundation, I have got to 90+ every time, often within the first 250-350 people to do so. On non-meta, selfmade builds. Last gauntlet, was flamewood ignite totems.

@@jerjersgt Not all gems are available to every class at the start. So you have to make a throw away character just to get the gem in act 1.

@@jerjersgt Steelskin is a guard skill that stops bleeding and acts as a buffer on top of your health pool, thus it's a good panic button or to automate to happen periodically. The other guard skills scale from armor or mana expenditure, but Steelskin scales only from levels. Steelskin has Strength as its stat requirement, which a generic Witch is unlikely to get large amounts of. Heavy belts are the belt type that provides Strength. So they're saying their strat is to level a Marauder/Duellist/Templar to the point of getting Steelskin, transfer it to the Witch they actually want to play, and use a Heavy belt to fix their Strength enough to keep levelling Steelskin and keep it effective as an "I'd like to not take damage" button.

Chieftain is also easy to cap the resistances once you starts to get your ascendancy. Even the first one would give a lot of value in teh campaign.

Yup just create a new one and start again. Quick tip: always put good items in ur stash when lvling up (even items u used early in the act would help ur new chacter) same for currency u can just pick them up with a new character

since bosses have new abilities, what Izaro has may make transfigured gem farming disgusting dangerous. may be a good idea for people to plan away from getting transfigured gems easily/early as you may need to out-lvl lab more than you think to farm your gem(s) safely.

you can just rush intruders in black as first quest to unlock it. assuming you have hideout unlocked (as you should if you are someone aspiring to play gauntlet)

@@dante5526 Hideout is perm unlocked after you do it once. However, I don't remember if you have to do it for HCSSF to count for future HCSSF. So if you want to be extra safe and have never played HCSSF before, I'd make an HCSSF character before the event and get far enough to unlock the hideouts. Would be good early practice for you too.

If they're reaally allowed to cook, how about making a similar event but some sort of SC/HC hybrid sometime? While it makes for good streamer content, there are some things that make HC less fun than SC to me. (that it's an always online game being perhaps the biggest thing) eg: you gain an "affliction" every time you die... on say 7th affliction you get sent to the void. Far higher stakes than SC but a single DC won't end you.

I never play hardcore. That said, I did play last guantlet. I am so glad thats not how the game always is, and I can not see me ever playing hardcore for an actual league. The additional stress and consequences for things beyond my control like network latency make it a completely unpalatable experience for a long term thing. That said, Gauntlet was an interesting change of pace, and it was fun being part of the moment of community. And there are things you pick up from that experience that then translate into playing better even in softcore in the future. So I will be giving it a try again this Gauntlet, here's hoping I can make it through the campaign.
