great catch man! its the needle jet. a lot of folks lose this piece in tear down. just make sure you pay attention to which direction it goes in and put it back the same way and youll be fine =)

Does the needle jet you are hitting with your screwdriver just come out the other side? Why are you hitting it? How does it go back in if it comes out? I didn't see anything else about this in the other videos.

I even bought a d shaped bit because I was reading I might need one but Ive disassembled the entire carb except the mix screws because I dont have a driver thin enough to get in there so im gonna grind one of mine down

I took apart my carb today on the shadow it was definitely the problem the owner signed it over to me as well for 0 lol it's 1985 thanks for this now I didn't miss any parts

So I don't have a ultrasonic cleaner. What do you recommend for cleaning the carb by hand? Any old carb cleaner, a brush and some elbow grease? Any tips or tricks?

Learned a ton, helped me a lot when putting my engine back into frame. Now does anyone know the diameters for the exhaust gasket rings? All I know us that they are different sizes and that I won't be ordering them from US as I live in the UK.

May I please ask you a follow up? Within the Maintenance manual, under the carb sync, pictorially show the top view of the carbs and two lines that I have to plug the vacuum gauges into. I guess they are suppose to be the Vacuum Plug Locations. For the life of me I can not locate them. Will you please advise. Thank you 🙏.

@@sammoj9836 im sorry but i dont have the bike here. Usually the vacuum ports for syncing are in the intake boot or the head itself.

Whats up fellas I bought the velocity stacks, the performence kit for duel carps and the straight open pipe draft exauhst for my 1998 honda shadow vt750 ( parts fit all on my model). I put everything in and started it up. I ran very good, great power output and no problems for two days. I parked my shadow after a 70 km ride down to a campsite for tow days without starting it and when i started it the next time the power output was shit. Still rideable but copared to before very bad performance. It takes a good while to get some speed. I checked very much stuff already but i run out of ideas. I thought maybe there is somewhere a leak where air comes i but the carb boots are new and well sealed. The exauhstgaskets are fine. The carbs seam fine aswell. Petcock is clean, fuelfilter is clean. I (double-)checked very much stuff and run out of ideas ( Sparkplugs, different settings for airfuel- mixture, the new jets aswell even if i cleant the carbs and other stuff.Does anyone had a similar problem and can help me ? Please give me some idea's guys, its my first bike and i learn all the stuff on my own and wont give up till its fixed. I am good with mechanics just to point out that i dont fucked stuff up while rebuilding the carbs and like i said, i checked that trwice to made shure everything is fine there. I have an 01 shadow 750 ace. Around 2:10 you talk about the Air/fuel mixture screw. Where mine is supposed to be it looks to be capped or covered ooor it might not even be there. No idea how to get to it

He covers it another video. It is an aluminum plug. Drill a small hole through the plug. Then use a wood screw and pull it out. I had to put the screw in a vice and tap the carb body, with a hammer. They can be stubborn.

Could you put the slide needle and diaphragm in an ultrasonic cleaner?

If the rubber is removed sure, but the slide itself, doesnt really need that. The jet needle can go in though. Rubber wont do very well.

not all the 600 diaphragms are the same size. single carb and dual diaphragms are very different. the dual carb 600 diaphragms are the same as the dual carb vt750 diaphragms beginning in 98.

@@wadeadams2775 it's a shame he didn't show it in this video, but normally the mixture screws are covered with a plug from the factory, to prevent tampering and accidental adjustment. The plugs have to be removed. There are other videos that show that info. You probably got this figured out by now, but posting this for other readers, since it looks like TJBC deleted whatever other messages were in this thread.

I just cleaned my carbs and under my float needle was a round seal. But the other carb float needle did not have a round seal. Is that supposed to be there or am I missing one from the other side??

Man what is the brass jet thing next to the pilot and the main, it is pressed in, the last person in the carb had deformed it and in my attempt to (fix) it I snapped it off shorter

Hey man so I was going to rebuild my carb tonight and when taking it apart I noticed there was no lower freeze plug (so to speak) on the side of the carb with the choke. Is this normal? Bike was running decently well before taking it off the bike but the other side has two plugs. This is the one beetween the throttle cable holder and the small diapgram cover. P.s Not referring to the plug you take out for the air/fuel mixture screw. Those werent capped.

@@roargyle I can't remember who replied to me wherever else I asked this question but I left it where it was and made sure I sprayed real good with carb cleaner after I soaked in a gallon of chemdip. Haven't had any problems. Bike runs great. Just fyi, my carbs were gunked up pretty good. Bike sat for 12 years.

So the slide vent shouldn’t be plugged off at all?

Correct, that and the bowl vent both need to be able to breathe to allow pressures to quickly change in as parts move inside the carb. They sell metal screen housings to put over the slide vents, thinking about making something similar for the bowl vents on mine, maybe just some thin screen wrapped over it with o-rings for now.
