Bought my first project a few weeks ago. It's a 96 Honda shadow 600 hardtail bobber. It's been sitting a couple of years with gas in the tank and the wiring is bad. Like the previous owners wanted to gas the sleek look of no blinkers and all the cool stuff but didnt know anything about wiring. so there are wires that go nowhere all over the place and components that make the bike run that are just hanging free. What a mess. My plan is to get the bike running fat and happy. Then take all the wiring off the bike that isnt doing anything. Reroute and reposition everything into a cleaner spot. Then it's time for burnouts. I have no carb experience at all so these tutorials couldn't come at a better time. I'm a couple of weeks away from rebuilding these carbs and you're videos are going to be the key to success I'm sure. Thank you for the content and I look forward to giving you my business for years to come

Just finished installing the stock rebuild kit on my stock 2005 vt750dc. Put 115 jet in front and 118 rear, 2 shims under each needle and Idle mixture screws at 2 and 3/4 turns out. Bike runs great! Never thought this bike could run so smooth and pull so hard on acceleration with no flat spots all the way to max rpm. It's like I got a brand new bike. Thanks TJ brutal for the build videos really helped. A couple of the stainless Allen head screws were too short but not a biggy . One thing I would consider a necessity for this project is don't cheap out and buy a pair of new boots for carb to engine connection. Couldn't believe how much easier it made reinstallation. Another item to check is the condition of the filter media in that little plastic housing on top of the forward cylinder that connects to the breather tubes to the carb vents. Mine was about to crumble into dust. You'll definitely enjoy your bike a lot more after putting one of these kits in.

Hey friend, i love your videos. Have a look in to JIS screw heads and drivers. They are marked with a dot on the head. If you MUST use the phillips drivers, add some lapping compound to the tip of the driver, it provides great grip.

Whats up fellas I bought the velocity stacks, the performence kit for duel carps and the straight open pipe draft exauhst for my 1998 honda shadow vt750 ( parts fit all on my model). I put everything in and started it up. I ran very good, great power output and no problems for two days. I parked my shadow after a 70 km ride down to a campsite for tow days without starting it and when i started it the next time the power output was shit. Still rideable but copared to before very bad performance. It takes a good while to get some speed. I checked very much stuff already but i run out of ideas. I thought maybe there is somewhere a leak where air comes i but the carb boots are new and well sealed. The exauhstgaskets are fine. The carbs seam fine aswell. Petcock is clean, fuelfilter is clean. I (double-)checked very much stuff and run out of ideas ( Sparkplugs, different settings for airfuel- mixture, the new jets aswell even if i cleant the carbs and other stuff.Does anyone had a similar problem and can help me ? Please give me some idea's guys, its my first bike and i learn all the stuff on my own and wont give up till its fixed. I am good with mechanics just to point out that i dont fucked stuff up while rebuilding the carbs and like i said, i checked that trwice to made shure everything is fine there. I have an 86 cmx450c Rebel. They only made the 450 in 86-87 but it looks like some vt models might share parts. I'm having a rough time finding what I need. Thankfully they sell rebuild kits but I wish I had a list of every part that are interchangeable.

Regarding the slide vent, the hoses for each vent go into a box on top of the front cylinder, do you want to retain that box and put them back or just leave the hoses off the slide vents?!

I have a thin hose fitting next to the where the left carb meets the engine. I cant see it on the carb in this video... The entire fitting itself is dark stained brass with no indication of it having had a hose on there. I have a cali shadow ace 750 and Im not sure if I need a hose there, if I should plug it or just leave it alone.

Hi, TJ. I have a honda shadow vt 750 from 1998 and it has some cold start problems. If I pull the air it will go down if I do not pull and it is in a cold environment I have to turn the handle several times to start. The exhaust system is not the original and does many backfire when I reduce. I saw your velocity stacks kit and I wonder if it will be the solution or part of it ... replacements do not exist, or at least i havent found anything that works. you will need to buy another carb and take the spring from it

though they are similar, they are not the same. if you have the carbs in hand you will see the visible differences. the concepts in this video, id say 90%+ apply to many of the dual cv carbs on hondas.

I just want to say this. I have watched all 4 parts to this DIY, a few times before attempting this. your videos are quality I consider you as my teacher and I go for it. I'm with you up till the choke removal. a basic task. Yours comes out and mine does not. I'm confused. I feel stupid. I wonder why you failed to mention anything about how your choke plunger can become stuck inside your carb. So I go to the forums. The people say its just a plunger, use some carb cleaner and pull it out. So I do. I feel it slowly coming and pop. I did not break my cable, I'm aware of how much a steel cable can take... Nope! I was very carful with the plastic threaded part... easy! but what broke. The head of the plunger itself. Is it Aluminum? I look over to my teacher... The cable detached and now the plunger is stuck in my carb. No clue as to what to do now. My teacher had left me in the dark without answer. Then it dawns on me that this was only the beginning, I wonder what other things you would fail me on in the future 3 videos... and as I take my carb to the pros in hopes they can save it I wonder... who my teacher really is.....

I've watched all 4 videos over and over as I cleaned and put my duals back together. One thing is driving me crazy. You show the fhingy that the slide needle sits in and then hammer it down with a screwdriver handle. Mine does not go down flush and I don't even know if I should be trying to hammer it down. is it a part of something in the float bowl as well as something in the slide ???

Is the fuel line being backwards a big issue? I'm having issues running my bike over about 60mph without it losing power (like it's running out of gas) on a 99 ACE 750. Runs great everything below that and can even hit 55mph in 2nd. So far I've checked the Pump and Pump Relay, cleaned the carbs and rebuilt them with new diaphrams and a new gasket set. Still having issues going over 55-60mph though no matter the gearing.

I have a 97 honda shadow spirit 1100cc dual carb. I took my carb out do to have acceleration lag. Other then that it ran ok” My jets are “180 main jet”and “42 pilot” I done all I can with the floats adjustments. But now “I CAN get the bike to start and idle”. Butt it doesn’t ride. Like it NOT getting enuff fuel…When I drain the bowls theirs next to no gas in them. I tryed everything. If someone on here is nice nuff to answer me please.
