EASIEST "denim" jacket I've sewn. Not in denim, though! Stacie jacket (Style Arc). Fitting & sewing.

I made a few denim jacket patterns before and the Stacie jean jacket from Style Arc is the easiest to sew, hands down. Lots of simplified sections but still looks amazing and fits great. This is my 3rd version and I’m sharing a happy version with magenta linen. Come and join me for some fitting and sewing today!

Specifics:
*Size 16
*Added 1.5” length to all the pieces to account for not sewing the waistband at the bottom
*Added ½” to each front for a total of 1” extra inch to take it from a B cup to a C cup
*Linen cotton blend

This jacket is beautiful and I love the construction details you presented! By the way, please don’t apologise for wearing bright colours. I have similar colouring to you (only my hair is silver now, not very dark brown anymore) and I also feel the best in bright clear colours. I might wear darker colours on the lower half of my body, but on the upper half, the brighter, the better! 😊

I think leaving out the band really elevated the jacket to a much dressier make. Thank you for the tips on making this garment. I was so pleased with what you showed I actually bought the pattern. StyleArc is based here in Australia and I've been buying from them for years. You're right about the level of instructions. They assume you have plenty of sewing experience so the instructions would be horrifying for a beginner. Thanks for sharing your expertise.

Love this video! I loved my denim jacket, but I've never been able to close it because of my bust size. All the long narrow pattern pieces in this design make it a great candidate for repurposing old jeans! I certainly have several of those - so I think I might have a new jacket soon!

The new ones have multisizes so it’s not like the older ones that it was only a single size. Having more sizes makes it easier.

What a great pattern! Could one use a lighter weight woven, leaving off the pocket flaps and bottom band to yield a regular shirt?

I wouldn't make a shirt with this pattern... I think the collar is too big for a shirt in this case and some lighter wovens don't look too good with all the vertical and horizontal seams. Just my opinion. This is great as a jacket.

Your jacket is amazing Karina, the color is just gorgeous. Your tutorials always have such helpful information and tips and tricks to simplify our sewing journey. The links to your appropriate videos, to sew the collar, etc., are very helpful and keeps your demonstrations concise which I really like. I was thinking of buying a denim jacket to take on an upcoming cruise but I find the waist bands make me appear too boxy. Your method with the bias binding would be ideal, problem solved. I have recently purchased a couple of Style Arc patterns because I love their contemporary styles so I'll definitely be buying this pattern next. I live in the sub tropics, where it's bright and colorful so I find your fabric choices, and your wardrobe in general, to be very inspiring. Local stores here stock such drab colors and styles for the more mature woman so you have inspired me recently to take up sewing again after a 25 year hiatus. Love this Jacket, it looks so good with the band omitted - wonder if I could make it in Velvet , do you think it could be lined - I like the casualness of the style but in a traditional high end fabric. Love all your vlogs

I would not line a style like this. There are so many seams and you'd need to change the sewing construction and create your own lining pieces. Yes, it's possible, but jackets like this are just not lined.

I haven’t tried a jean jacket because of the sleeve placket and the pockets. Not sure about how to do the FBA - I need one. Hmmm…otherwise, love the jacket with no waist band. I like the extra length for more hip coverage. Thank you for explaining that part.

The Atenas has cup sizes A-DD so that is superior in my opinion but the sizing only goes to 20 as it’s an older pattern. It’s got a bit more ease than the Stacie but is well shaped too.
