Howdy Brother! Thanks for taking the time to explain your finishing techniques. By the way, your dust collection system in the background looks awesome.

Howdy! Yea it's a great addition to the shop. It's a cyclone CV1800. Jay Bates actually just did a video on his CV1800 a few days ago. You should check out my table saw station video because I built all the tools around the dust collection system in that video.

Can you add wood dye to this mixture?
@dmattinman7 жыл бұрын
I'm not to the end of the video yet so maybe you answer this, but do you have to put more coats on because you are thinning the shellac?

Ok. Now to the end. Doesn't the butcher block wax dull the shine of the shellac?

Matt Inman yes but u put furniture polish on after and u get ur shine again.

Sorry but this Zinsser shit dries too fast., pulling hairs from my brush and the spray is worse
@chillzone1886 жыл бұрын
Hey Bob. That's the same problem I had when i started using Zinsser too. Once I diluted it with denatured alcohol to just about 1:1 then it's much easier to use and flows nicely over the work piece. If you find a drip mark take a paper towel and soak it in alcohol and the shellac drip will rub away and blend in. Hope this helps! Send me a picture of the work piece when it's finished!

Thanks ,Ill try that next. It's a bare wood slab exterior door and I'm staining and shellacing the interior for show and painting the exterior to match the trim scheme.2 coats brush done, 2 coats spray done. One more coat then I re-hang it.

Stuff is garbage. It cakes up. Impossible to use

@Rick P. it is a nice color but ive tried and had had others try it and the end results always look bad. i sprayed it once and the second coat melts the first coat so it never darkens
