@@WildCreates how do I do that?....it's finished and I entered it in a contest for a veterans organization that I'm in. It doesn't give me an option to post it here....and FYI this is my third painting...I've never painted in my life and I love it

This is the one that led me to paint about 30 different gradient swatches on different materials, with different brushes, different ways of priming before I started etc. and I’m still just completely at a loss for how you did the sky haha. I ended up giving up ok the purple and just focused on one orange and one yellow thinking that would make it simpler but I guess not. When I get desperate enough with tutorials I literally copy each stroke by stroke so I make absolutely SURE I’m not doing one too few or many to ruin the paint myself and it just…doesn’t work like it does for everyone else 🤷 I’m thinking I should see how much I can get for my acrylics and try buying a couple colors in oils instead but I really just think accessibility is my barrier, not the materials. I’m def saving this to come back to if I ever do try it though!

Don't over think it when it comes to gradients... find what works best for you and be free and loose and blend in at the end. If you over analyze you will never be happy ha ha ha. I know, cause I have been there.

@@WildCreates Finding anything that works is the problem 😅 You would think after so many years _something_ would start going right. God I’ve even tried cheats like that stripes on a chiseled sponge thing and that at the very least allowed my colors to blend…but it _all_ just became one color. The brand I have (Windsor & Newton) also makes oils-would those actually stay wet for a complete brush stroke? My problem with acrylics is if I use a little they dry halfway through the stroke but if I keep going back for more wet paint I make like treads in the paint where canvas shows through and my blending is full of lines that scrape off right back to canvas streaks if I go back over them. What I’m worried about is if oils stay wet longer, I’ll just get more canvas showing through 🤷

You have to remember acrylic paint is basically liquid plastic so it is always going to start drying the second you apply it to anything. Use some water or medium to keep it wet... I take about a few mediums in this video here:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHqYdWB-eJyYa9E

You can still do this one in oil. But if you like acrylics you can always get yourself the Golden Retarder: geni.us/GoldenRetarder It helps with slowing drying times.
