Easiest Swing

5 жыл бұрын

In this video, Brian Sparks, age 67, shares the easiest swing in golf for seniors. The easy swing allows seniors to play with the same speed and power as younger golfers, and it's the perfect swing for anyone looking to improve their game.
So if you're looking for the easiest swing in golf for seniors, look no further than this video! Brian Sparks will show you the simple, yet effective, swing that you need to start playing like a pro!
Easiest Swing is all about playing golf in a more natural way and looks to free golfers from contrived and awkward positions in their effort to conform. We believe all golfers have an in-built “Easiest Swing” and way to play, once released from conventional “rules” their golf swing and game becomes more repeatable and comfortable.

I was lucky to play 18 holes with Brian a couple of weeks ago, and I personally witnessed him hitting a 300-yard drive. Now, not all of his drives were this long, but he was never trying to hit it far. On average I would say he hits it around 240-260, making it look like no effort went into it.

... great stuff! It is an effective swing alternative. I'm 70, thin build, weigh 156lbs and with this swing approach I effortlessly carry my 7i 150yds and regularly hit my driver 235-240 and online. My playing partners are mystified with where that speed comes from, with my relaxed lazy action. For me at least, it clearly relies on relaxed muscles maximizing centrifugal force. There also is an emphasized cocking, uncocking and recocking action that releases that centrifugal force--think snapping a whip. But that's just my experience of it. Have fun!😊

I know that when my shots go wrong it is always because of tension. If I can relax, it all comes good. Brian has one of the smoothest and relaxed swings I have ever seen. And there is no reason at 76 why I can't emulate that. That is the objective.

Hi Brian, nice to see you swinging again. Dubai is unrecognisable from my days working there in 1980. I notice that you play the irons back of centre, also that your irons seem to address the ball with an open face, would you clarify for us? Hugh
@Easiestswing
@Easiestswing 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Hugh, you are right on both points but these are things that I have found to be useful and effective for me. Easiest Swing is not a 'method' so I don't tell everyone to do what I do. What I will say is that playing the ball further back makes it easier for older golfers and those of us with bad backs to strike the ball well. A position further forward is ok when you have the flexible hips of younger players but not so easy for us oldies. The open club face is my way of preventing an old habit of closing the club too early and pulling it left. I hope this clarifies these issues. Best wishes Brian

Hello Brian , I attended one of Julian Mellor's Easiest Swing one day courses and find your style of swing to be far more relaxing and consistent than that of the PGA style template. I've read some of the critical comments on here and feel that you are far too diplomatic in your responses. I'm not advocating being rude but there are enough testimonials to the Easiest Swing methodology to suggest that it works very well, and yes I used the word methodology because there is great method in it. I personally am hitting it further and more consistently because I'm striking it with the sweet spot more often , and more importantly because I'm not encumbered by numerous swing thoughts. It is far more repeatable and definitely more accurate. I would encourage some of your critics to watch Julian Mellor's videos of the same methodology to watch a relatively young man hitting the ball with considerable impetus. Julian was easily driving the ball 200 yards plus on the day that I attended his course and with a very relaxed , languid swing. Sean Herron , another of your instructors , has posted a video where he steps out the yardage to his ball , struck with an eight iron. It's a shame that there are so many naysayers on here but most of us value your instruction. Keep up the good work.
@Easiestswing
@Easiestswing 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Eno. I always look to deal with the doubters with some degree of diplomacy because, when I started to put videos on KZbin, I received a few (only a few!) negative comments. I exchanged some views with them but soon discovered that they had a pre-decided agenda and just wanted to be aggressive. I s=decided to not get sucked into their negativity. If you've read my book you'll remember that people fit into one of two categories; drains or radiators. The secret is to never let the 'drains' (the negative people) steal all you energy from you. Keep the company of 'radiators' who leave you feeling energised. Harvey Pennick was asked by Ben Crenshaw to give him and Tom Kite some advice on the eve of their first tournament; he said, "always dine with good putters!"

Hi Brian, I stopped your video in the downswing and can see how you get so much distance with a relaxed swing.. you get more lag than just about anyone I have ever seen. Wonderful swing. @Easiestswing
@Easiestswing 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, I did try for lag, or the late hit as it was called in those days, but, as you will remember from my book, it was disastrous. The lag I now have is down to a very relaxed and unhurried start to the downswing combined with freedom through the ball, ie my head leads the way.

The folks that want stats have something to prove, that their way, whatever that is, is better. Then they want to comment about how 67 isn't old. Well young feller, when your body starts breaking down 37 can feel like 97. Try to show a little respect to a man who is showing you a better way. When you have trouble twisting and turning in that damnable swing you use when you're our age try and tell us then how 67 isn't old. Keep using the modern swing and one day you'll be looking for these videos hoping to find a way to still play golf as well as you think you do now because the modern swing ruined your back just like it did Tiger's. Wisdom should tell you to avoid that problem but wisdom is so hard to acquire, isn't it young feller.

I like the quiet without the constant blabber about what my left elbow is doing. This is so unbelievably simple that 29 people just won't believe it no matter what. They want to know "how far". Bad golfers always think about how far. All this man is doing here is turning to his right and turning to his left. Well, I got news children, that's about 95% of golf right there.

In reality, the change is less than an inch between where the club is at setup and where it is at impact. That’s all you need to move to the left side when the ball is in the “right” place. I've played for over 30 years, and have yet to play with anyone who hits it over 250--and then only when they catch one on the screws on closely mown fairways. Better get back to GolfWRX with the rest of the dreamers.

Wise and truthful words, Sean! It's easy to see why so many people are looking for stats to prove this or that rather than just looking for a swing that gives them consistency and enjoyment. I played the tour in the early 1970's surrounded by lots of great golfers who hit the ball about the same distance as I did, Sam Torrance, Eamon D'Arcy and many more. Yes, you need 300+ yards now to compete on the main tours but you don't need that, as you say, to play to a very low handicap or to simply enjoy your game. Most golfers would do far better to spend their time practicing the short game where they really can make a difference to their scores.

Gentlemen, now that I’ve turned 77 I find 75 to be the new 50 and I’m going to try again to develop the easy swing Brian played with.

One of the fallacies is you can’t play good golf as we age. We can and not get injured by a swing as you demonstrate. I am 62 and I can’t or want to swing like a Justin Thomas. I would be at the osteopath the next day if I did ( or even could ) we have to be kind to our body and preserve it as best we can for many rounds. No we can’t pit as far as at 20. Just keep the ego in check and move up a tee box.

Very good comment 👍 Like you said Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Tiger Woods etc... are top athletic players. They probably would throw Javelin 80 yards or frisbee 100 yards. Most off us cant do it 😅

Yes, quite a coincidence that he was behind me and useful to highlight two completely different ways of playing the game. All you have to do us make you own choice. Well spotted in any case. 🙏

Coming in to impact, your eyes are looking past the ball. Is that something you teach?

It’s something that I have found very helpful in turning fully through the ball and I do advise it for some students. It still depends on each individual case but it is far, far better than keeping the head down too long!

Seems that OMP (Old Man Pat) of Golf Vlogs.UK fame continues to practice the points that Brain has advocated for years, a fluid swing, good rhythm and without tension. OMP known as the “ Fairway Finder” keeps the ball in play because of this swing. I am sold on Brian’s method as well as those taught by Julian Mellor, the Easiest Swing Coach.

nice easy swing, but the behind shot of the driver was almost a complete miss. about as healy as you can get, slow the video down and you will see what i mean.

Actually, it wasn't that much off the heel but the club was a bit shut at impact and I hit it bit low and a bit left. I decided to keep it in the video rather than taking it out. So many videos on YT are false in the sense that the author's take out anything that isn't perfect. I am more concerned by what you see and having positive effect on how golfers swing the club. I, for one, am human and do hit imperfect shots.
