Hey Julian, still practicing the dance every day and I now have a beautiful swing but ball goes nowhere. I bought a swingrite five days ago and immediately found the problem also why I hit a short fade I never released the club. For five days I have practiced with swing rite and now it releases where it is supposed to even on 6. I played today and took swing rite and used it five or six times before every drive and the distance I gained was truly amazing talking 40-50 yards. I shot 79 and if I putted better would have been 74. Can’t say enough about your group and how much joy golf is again. Thanks and hope some day when you are in America I will get to meet you, Gil

Dear Jo and Julian, thanks for your email. All well here in Finland (how else, we are the happiest country in the world, just to remind you 😀), hope with you, too. And the return trip worked out as planned, no problems but only a minor delay with the final flight from FRA to HEL. And likewise, it was a great pleasure to meet both of you as well as Patricia and Jeff there last week. You are such a lovely company and it couldn't just have been any better. We were so lucky to get such a high-level private coaching! My wife registered for a ladies golf training at our local club and the group started their season yesterday, they will meet ever Monday evening throughout the season. Thus, I used the opportunity to go and practise my new skills, and guess what? I hit so nice shots one after another that couldn't really believe it. Julian, even with my driver I could hit to where I was aiming, amazing 😊. Just remembered the basic principles and so simple it was... Then also spent some time in a bunker but it just got boring since it was too easy to get the balls landing where I wanted them to land 😂. My wife told me later than the husband of one of her friends had told her that Harri (a local pro) seems to be practicing over there in a bunker. My wife had just answered to him that no, that is my husband 😂. Finally, I went to test some chipping, and from different lies and distances it just simply worked... Relaxed... I did not take any video yesterday but next time I will. I will then send a copy to Julian and you can check if all is fine. But if it is going to be like yesterday, I don't think there's too much wrong... 😎 Following all the excellent advise from Julian, I guess I just remembered to follow it all. At least it was so easy and after 90 minutes my body was just feeling great, no pain nothing, not even stiffness this morning. However, I must disappoint you: most of the time I wasn't thinking anything at all but just having fun and enjoying golf, also doing those small exersices like hitting some shots when dancing from one side to another etc. 😀 Let's see when I'll have a chance to go to play a round, it will be fun! ☀️ Let's keep in touch, thank you once more so much for your kindness and hospitality during our visit there! All the best, kind regards Mika

I’d like to share my recent success in engaging Julian Mellor as my swing coach. I’m a 72 year old senior left handed golfer from Virginia. I have played for over 50 years. Golf is a major focus of my retirement years. It gives me great pleasure to report my handicap index yesterday fell below 10 for the first time in my life. I have Julian to thank for that. My story- About 3 years ago I was struggling with inconsistent ball striking. I found Julian and his colleagues on KZbin, started working with the Easy Swing philosophy and incorporating la dance du golf in my pre- shot routine. It worked quite well over time. However, about 4 months ago my swing began to deteriorate and my scores ballooned up. I was really frustrated. Something was off. Poor drives, chunky weak irons.. skulled chip shots to name a few. So I decided to engage Julian in a 60 day improvement program … remotely. In the beginning, my wife video recorded my swing with different clubs from various angles and I emailed them off to Julian. (Btw, if you’ve never seen a video of your golf swing, be prepared… uuugh!). I didn’t know what to expect in return .. maybe a focus on la dance du golf? Sending along already available videos from KZbin?…canned responses that he gives everyone? I had no idea. What I received was problem identification and improvement guidance on the idiosyncrasies of MY swing. It was personal, direct and easy to understand. I tried his suggestions, exchanged more videos.. kept him up to date on results. We went through it all- from driving, irons, punch and runs, putting.. the whole gamut. I would have never ever identified these issues on my own let alone fixed them. I’d been trying for 50 years! I couldn’t be happier. Particularly when I really pure a 6 iron or pound out a long straight drive with a controlled and relaxed swing. There is no better feeling. Thank you Julian for what you’ve done for me. You’ve made my game what it is today, and set the groundwork for long term continued improvement. Your most grateful student from Virginia, Lloyd Anderson Ps- if anyone has a question of me and my experience, I’d be happy to answer.

This past winter I had the good fortune to spend some time hitting balls on the range at LaPurisima a course in. California where they’ll be playing a qualifier for the US Open. There were a lot of superb golfers practicing and the thing you notice is that nothing moves fast except the clubhead. The shaft may be leaning but only for a milli- second before it snaps through the ball to a full release. It’s really impressive because you find yourself wondering where the power comes from. Thanks for another great lesson. Somewhere, your dad is working on this stuff Julian! Cheers from frozen Canada.

I"m almost picturing a half circle. I stand a bit taller. Grip is pretty neutral. Begin the rotation back and lift the left heel. The backswing is slower now. There is a very slight pause at the top and I make a slight wrist hinge, then begin down/around same path conscious effort to feel the club with the intent to feel the clubhead more. I snap through the ball with the thought to complete the circle/rotation now on the other side of my body into full finish. That thought creates much better compression for me now and better consistency as I come through the ball. I wasn't getting through like this. I still haven't figured out driver but have hit decent drives but mixed.

Good lucky on being consistent! Golf is about getting it in the playing area. But if you want to be inconsistent and you want 5 to 10 extra yards it might work but that why you have a bag full of clubs just grab the next club and get it in the playing area.

Julian, does the right wrist also go from extension to flexion through the impact region? That’s another concept I’ve been told-to hold the right extension through impact
@JulianMellor
@JulianMellor Жыл бұрын
There is a natural extension and flexion and extension throughout the golf swing. You have to recreate impact conditions sometimes to get the feeling your looking for depending i by he shape of shot you are trying to hit. Everyone is slightly different so I would encourage anyone to try different feels. Learning by random play is essential.

I need to plug this instruction. This is the way to golf for 99.99% of us and it's the way to golf for your entire life pain free. I'm a former heavy rotation tilt hold the lag pivot golfer. After suffering a severe injury that continuously causes me pain, I went to an instructor who advocated this method. A bit more narrow stance, more level shoulder turn, simultaneous soft fold of elbows, unhinge on the turn and fold back up. Start slow and as you get the simple components down, you can really go at the ball. Don't worry about folding the lead elbow; the straight lead arm is an illusion. Your lead arm WILL straighten on the downswing pivot at the moment just before and after impact. I'm telling you go out and hit your 7 iron at 75% using this method. Then sit down and think about years wasted.

After a discectomy in 2016 I have had to change to a swing that better accommodates the lumbar issues. I came across this method via a friend of mine, who described having less pain when he plays. I have been working on this method, but the distance drop has been very significant (8i was 150-155, to now barely seeing 125-130. What is a reasonable expectation for distance gains, if any, with this method with time put in to develop it? I know I’m somewhat limited now, and to even being able to play is a blessing, some gains would be great. Thanks !

Thanks for the reply Julian. I would say my average carry with the 8i is in the 120-130 range. Have tried adding more hand speed through the release, but has caused some inconsistency with strike and direction. And this is with your method. I have mostly given up on a “x” factor type swing. Thanks
