can you add/edit the internet.conf file to activate a wifi adapter?

Very true - this IS the easiest way to create a NAS with NTFS. Got it all hooked up and running, BUT a the very last step it says "access denied". @10:47 which UID & PWD (user credential) are to be used? Those from the IoT-Pi, correct? I don't get it! On the client PC, the Filemanager does not show IoT-Pi. It should, right? Taskmanager on IoT-Pi shows processor idling at some 85% - that should NOT be. It's Raspberry Pi 2 Model B running IoT Core, latest update installed. I've got many devices on the LAN using the Windows-Share method, but in this case I am stuck. Replay is highly appreciated, Thanks.

... never mind, got it sorted out alright - all good. except the speed, some 15Mbps max.

I have successfully set the server and works like a charm on both RPi2 and RP3. The only problem I got is I can't connect to the server from my Android smartphone. I have access to it from 3 different windows computers in my LAN but no luck with my phone... Any ideas? Am I missing anything ? Has anyone accessed the above server with Android?

I have had trouble accessing Windows 10 shares from other devices than windows computers (timeout error) because of support for the new SMB version. Are you using a 3rd party app to access the share?
@GeorgeTJ8 жыл бұрын
Hello. I'm trying to access it through ''USB Audio Player Pro'' and the ES File Explorer. ES Explorer has a scan option. It doesn't even find it as a server when I scan my LAN whereas it does with other servers I set based on Webmin or OMV..
@SimillionMedia8 жыл бұрын
Hmm. That's weird. Is there an option to manually enter an IP address for a server in any of those apps. If so try that to force it to the NAS.
@GeorgeTJ8 жыл бұрын
This is what I tried a dozen of times with all possible combinations in the fields of username and password. Nothing. That's a shame as this server based on Windows IoT is the only one that puts my HDD to sleep when it's not being used. Considering I'm not using my server more than twice a day, this saves me power and most importantly, prolongs the life of the drive itself. However, the fact that I don't have access from my android devices is a dealbreaker.

I'm having the same issue. I can access the drives from a Windows PC, but I can't map to the drives from an Android device (ES File Explorer) or my media center (Kodi). Have you found a solution? I may have to use Raspbian if I can't map to the drive from all of my devices.

Hi Absolute Frosty, thank you for the great tutorial! I have a question. I opened up putty for the first time, and i'm trying to log in. I typed Administrator as username, and then p@ssw0rd as the password. However, all I get is "access denied". What am I doing wrong?

Will this work with a USB 3.0 2.5 inch hard drive or the power of the Pi will be insufficient? I'm aware that you can increase the power of the USB ports under Linux but what about Windows core? Many thanks.
@SimillionMedia8 жыл бұрын
Hmm. I don't know how to increase the USB power output on Windows Core, but with my experience, if you have a powerful power adapter (5V 2.0AMPs or more) then it should be fine running off the Pi. If not try getting a hard drive with an external power brick or getting an external USB power injector. Note: The interface on the Raspberry Pi is USB 2.0 and therefore will not be able to take advantage the speed USB 3.0 can offer.
@GeorgeTJ8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your answer. I'm not expecting full usb 3.0 speed as the board's ports are all USB 2.0. I just want it to work with my RPi 2. I'll have to try it I guess. Thanks again for the helpful video

Got a RP3 with the hope that it will be proven more powerful to power my HDD. I will have it up and running lately I hope. It would also be very helpful if you could post the commands under the video in text as sometimes is very difficult to make them out clearly. Thanks for the excellent video once again. Much appreciated!

On the windows there is also a boot config like in Linux. The USB is there default max_usb_current=1

Personally, I think using Windows 10 IoT is faster because your essentially connecting a Windows computer to another Windows computer. I haven't done any real tests but it feels faster.

I got a problem. I am stuck on Windows logo, and it keep beeping frequently. Do you know why that happened ?
@SimillionMedia8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. It could be because the Pi itself is defective, the SD card is corrupt or maybe it is not getting enough power. (Try using a high amperage USB power supply. 2A or even more.)

Awesome video. No solutions worked but this one... (I'm guessing because of the updated Raspbian) Now, how could I change the password on the SharedUser if I wanted to?
@SimillionMedia8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's a little more difficult to make a nas with Linux.. To change the username of SharedUser use this command: net user SharedUser *

Not that I know of. There might be a way with software RAID seen in some versions of Windows. But I don't think so.
