Although I had/have trouble with Samba share--could only use UPnP for streaming from my PC to OSMC. @samdev19949 жыл бұрын
DLiberator78 You should check your power supply. We're not aware of any outstanding bugs that could cause significant crashes. Did you try OSMC recently (the final version)? You may be pleasantly surprised. Sam
@DLiberator789 жыл бұрын
It is not a power supply issue as I have used the same power supply when I used RaspBMC with very little issue. I'll admit I think I was using RC2 but I ran the update and assumed this would update to the latest version. Is this not the case? Thanks for your comment I will check out the final version. I must admit I really do like the look at OSMC and I use the conq skin. Hopefully the latest version is a bit more stable.
@samdev19949 жыл бұрын
OSMC consumes more power than Raspbmc and OpenELEC, particularly on Pi 2 models. Yes, RC2 would update to the final version. The final version was released on 28th June. As I say, we're not aware of any issues like this, but if you start a forum post on discourse.osmc.tv we'd be happy to take a look Cheers Sam

Heck yeah! You'll notice that I don't cuss on-line. Just got my PI 3 up and running tonight. My wife's Dell laptop got a virus in it and I cannot get it out. I think that it got into the EPROM chip and it won't let me update the security essentials. There's some kind of writing on the lower left of the screen. I tried removing the memory chips out of both banks and re-installed, but to no avail. Neither will it let me reload Windows 7. When I tried to do a full memory test, it only went to 10% and there it stopped. Guess I'll scrap it and take out parts that I can use, like the screen. I can use it for my PI 3 once I get a driver board for it. Wish me luck!

@ExplainingComputers8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do exactly this -- switching cards to switch OSs. Or, you can install multiple OSs on one card using software called Berryboot. I am planning a video on the lattee. :)
@lesipapo78768 жыл бұрын
+ExplainingComputers Oh well that is just brilliant! Now i cant wait to get one. Follow up question. I plan to connect an external HDD to the Pi. Can the Pi run it? or can i use a Y cable thats connected to, Lets say, a powerbank; Is that possible? Thank you so much! you've been very insightful.
@ExplainingComputers8 жыл бұрын
Lester Ipapo The Pi cannot power an external drive, but you could indeed use a Y-splitter to power the Pi and a 2.5" HD from a 5V USB PSU or a power bank as you say. If you do this and use Berryboot, you can even install the operating system(s) on the HDD so that the Pi boots from the micro SD card still, then you select an OS which then boots from the HDD. :)

On your Windows computer you only see the boot partition which is FAT32. Windows does not see your data partition which is ext4. Only Linux can see that, and that's were the space is located. So you didn't lose space. It's just in a file system that WINDOWS CAN'T READ, but OSMC and all Linux distros CAN, so it's not lost.
