There's a lot to be said about not powering the system before connecting stuff etc. - and that is correct! - but tryto look at the video from the perspective of a newbie who wants to know how to get things up and running fast - with Windows! I think Steve did a great job here, and I suspect the LED bad polarization was intentional. So in my opinion, the vid is quite good.

6 months ago, I was once a novice to both rasbian and windows 10 iot core. Although the 'lines of code' topic is a non issue here unless you are restricted to c#, the only big undoing here is that windows 10 iot core is heavy on raspberry pi.

Will run on an 8gb drive, but 16gb is recommended. Because of all the bloatware you'll need to install on the Pi to get anything to run properly.... Especially C#

I was trying to read the notes at the bottom of the screen when you were going to BLINKY maybe in the future PAUSE the video where you add notes, allow enough time for the user to read the notes then continue the video, see you have the advantage you seen and done all this before its my first time I have no clue then half way through my first session about everything I know nothing about you expect me to triple task?????

I have Windows 10 Lumia 930 (my previous phone) and Windows 10 Lumia 950 (my actual phone), would it be possible to build arduino controlled robot that uses Lumia 930 as the sensors shield and lumia 950 as control device with just windows virtual shields + windows remote arduino experience? Also I would like to stream the live video feed from the lumia 930 camera to lumia 950 via internet - can I use a thirdparty app for that (like skype for example) at the same time? Controlling the robot from lumia 950 isn't really a must - I can do that with my RC radio transmitter.

Hi, you might be the right person to ask. Plz help me out here. i have started learning c# and after that i have plans for WPF. Idea is to to make apps like gauges and stuff to show power consumption, water level, temperature etc and to display on big screen via Raspberry Pi 3. I am specifically talking about COMPILED WPF applications. But i have seen many forms in which people are saying UWP will only do it and its very limited. Mostly people are using Qt for it. Now i have gone through half of my C# course, i am really confused. Should i drop all this and start Qt? Please guide me in the right direction if you can,thanks.

So I jumped in the deep end after watching this vid and bought a setup. Seeing how easy it is to get things going with samples etc. Yeah right.... I've been having every sort of error deploying and running and I've had to install about 8 other add-ons. I am so confused and will not get things working. It is not nearly as straight forward as this guy and the video makes it seems :( I wonder what else they left out here.

Unbelievable how many lines of code you need just to make a LED blink. Compared to Arduino IDE

Not sure why but the code was object-oriented, which you wouldn't usually do on an Arduino to blink an LED. I'm not very familiar with GPIO but if you run linux I believe the simplest way could be just writing to the file handle of a GPIO pin in shell script. But then again RPi and Arduino are for different kinds of projects (or different parts of the same project) (while they also overlap in some areas).

Note that Raspberry Pi 3 B+ won’t work for this. There are limitations, so be sure to order only the regular Pi 3.

So, there is alot of problems with the iot not being a normal x86 or whatever type of pc, so you cant install programs and drivers like normal. How then, can i take a chip that has a driver for windows, and get that working on a raspberry with windows iot....

Specifically i have a FDX-B/HDX RFID Reader Writer with TTL > serial port chip, that has a windows driver that allows for more settings for the rfid scanner, and would let me scan tags and then finish the line after the input, instead of just reading the input over and over again, without "cliicking enter" like it does without a driver(on rasbian)

I tried using Noobs to install Windows IoT on my brands new Pi 3 B and it either wouldn't install, says my Class 10 Microsoft isn't fast enough, and after days of trying to get it installed, it constantly shows the blue screen of death right after the windows logo...

With the video download and played with VLC media player the voice matches the lip movement but the video tries to tile sometimes and is jittery. I suggest you try this yourself and try not to use 7k state of the art PC and use what 99% of the world is using to view youtube content.

Please refrain from "run time" hardware circuit modifications. I mean, changing the LED polarity was easy & didn't make any difference but should never be done. It is always a good practice to power OFF the hardware and make the necessary circuit modifications. This video would be watched by engineers, makers, etc. as a reference & such acts send a wrong message. Good luck!

WTF!? Pulling circuits off a breadboard might or might not cause problems, depending on what is going thru them. Because when you flip a switch, you get just as much potential for damage as just popping a led back in between + and GND.

Hopefully you figured it out by now, would recommend to use DISKPART from CMD and then wipe the whole SD cards. You can google it.

I have tried this by using NOOBS lite. When i pick windows 10IoT it says that this version of NOOBs can not install Windows IoT. When I create SD thru Win 10 the PI says there is a hardware issue and to get the install disk. Can you update your video
