Keep up the great content. Not sure if this helps, but next time you fish live bait, bring an extra bucket and dip net. If you change the water every half hour or hour your chovies will survive longer and remain spunky. Too much ammonia builds in the water and becomes toxic for them. Cheers
@FishingSanFrancisco5 жыл бұрын
It does help! I learned pretty quick only having one bucket doesn't allow you to get new water. I brought a second one with this week and was able to keep them alive a few hours longer. It also helped cut down on all the darn foam! Thanks for watching!
@chimyshark4 жыл бұрын
it's not ammonia, pretty sure it's the lack of oxygen. oxygen depletion occurs within minutes, but ammonia build-up takes days.
@Meetoniceyou4 жыл бұрын
Yk if they’re under sized and you pull them up with a net it cuts their tail fin which doesn’t grow back and makes it that much harder for them to survive?
@kauaimurph5 жыл бұрын
Nice video. FYI. Halibut will have better chance of survival after release if you don't grab them with your hands. Also, I'd recommend lowering them back into the water with net instead of tossing back.

Where do I find the anchovie farm for live bait??
@themikejulian5 жыл бұрын
Nice catch! That looked like a 22 incher to me. Game wardens tell me you can measure from nose to tip of the fin. If you had measured that way, you would have had him at 22 on the nose.

Love your stuff bro I just started watching you love that beat receiver too but just a little tip for everybody out there after a few trips to that receiver we realized getting one scoop instead of two is better you’ll still have enough bait to fish with all day but they’ll be livelier and more will stay alive we used to run to scoops and a 15 gallon ice chest and had for bubble laters going with anti-nitrate juiceSo in this case a little goes a long way

I use the same as what I right with berkleygulp. 3/0 baitholder j offset hook. I'm not sure this is correct. I would probably recommend something smaller. I'm just lazy and like to use one type of rig for a few things

let me guess, the soap bubbles are in the bait tank to keep the gulls from seeing the bait in there and going in after it?
@FishingSanFrancisco3 жыл бұрын
Solid guess but The bubbles are from the aerator mixing with sardine slime. Not intentional but it does make it harder to catch um

You must hook the anchovy through the lower lip and out the nose. This is way we do it on the charter boats.
@FishingSanFrancisco3 жыл бұрын
Are they able to get oxygen doing both lips? Does that have any effect on how long they live?

@FishingSanFrancisco4 жыл бұрын
I don't like using Carolina rigs due to the crabs. They seem to be able to get the anchovies pretty easy when u don't force them off the ground like the high/low. A lot of guys use a Carolina rig with a float attached for the same effect.
