Nova King I had a question for you. I recently just started playing, and I was wondering if, with the amount of practice that you recommend, you think that you would be able to pull off deflects as effectively without the directional guard indicator? My goal is to play the game with no HUD whatsoever, and just learn to read the body language of my opponents. How realistic is that?
@Nova_King_7 жыл бұрын
I think you're going to have a very hard time not using indicators, I wouldn't recommend it - you may be able to use deflects on heavy attacks without the red arrows but light attacks and zone attacks will really punish you. I understand you maybe want to challenge yourself but at least put around a day's playtime in before attempting it. I think playing with indicators will give you a much better experience but it's up to you. Good luck with For Honor!
@padanfain51456 жыл бұрын
Hey Nova. First off, I wanna say that im still enjoying the content you put out, so keep it coming. Between you, deathstalker synchro, and faraam, I've got all the orochi education I could hope for. So after several additional hours put into a mix of practice and online matches, I've come to the conclusion that the way you improve is really up to you. I personally found that the guard indicator was more of a distraction than anything. It feels like I've had more success with no hud elements than with them. Not sure if you've tried that approach, but I do recommend it even if just to see the difference. When you can see the indicator, or your health and stamina, or the score to win, it becomes just another thing that draws attention away from the task at hand. Every thought, every moment matters. And it seems as though the indicator can fool you if you watch it more than your opponent. Food for thought.

Nice video man. Peace keeper is a pain to deflect against. Heavy deflect she can just walk around it. Berserker can hit you and cancel as well. And sugoki can bear hug straight after. I always stick with the lights with these. Unless they are out of stamina. Deflect against a law bringer trying to run and stick you is very satisfying though ;) deflect is love brother lol

Another tip for Orochi deflects: You can guard break if you choose to go with the heavy attack deflect. During that charge up for the stab you can break their guard but be careful as the opponent is capable of countering it and also parrying your heavy strikes. Definitely would say choose light deflect over a heavy

best to practice with a Shugoki as AI. that gets you use to heavy attack times and if its a level 2 shugo it kinda makes you realize unblockable attacks... arent really unblockable... and it took me 2 hours of practice on berserker to get light attack times down. Use to hate fighting shugoki's now im a shugo slayer. also had a conqueror say I was hacking because I deflected "A CHAIN WEAPON!!!" also fun making kensei's piss themselves.

Good way to think about it is just instead of doing a parry do a dodge in the same direction, the timing for deflect and parry are virtually the exact same, they are both executed when the red guard flashes.

For anyone new and looking for a little bit more info on the Orochi deflects, all of this is correct. However, there is one thing I would like to mention that isn't on this video: The light attack deflect, while it can be blocked it is very rare for them to block it. For the unblockable deflect, they can still be dodged.

The deflect can be blocked. If you do the deflect with heavy attack, it's possible to parry it.
@jezddd7 жыл бұрын
It's a good move to throw out every now and then to surprise your enemy but against someone who feints you'll find it difficult to pull off. Only windgust is guaranteed. The other thing is it's easier to parry+double up light taps, or parry+GB+up heavy if they're close enough and it does more damage. Good vid though. Hopefully it gets a buff.
