Today I shall show you the EASIEST way to remove gel nails at home with zero nail damage.
I'm super excited to share with you my GAME CHANGER when it comes to gel-x/full cover tips! I did cover this briefly in my first video but I wanted a dedicated video for it that showed a few extra methods.
If you're like me, removing gelly tips takes an eternity and then you inevitably get super impatient and leave your nails damaged. Since I've switched to gel peel off base coat, my nails have never looked better and my removal is done in 15 minutes tops, PLUS I get to save all my nail art and either use them again or display them on my wall.

It should only be applied to an unprepped natural nail. Method three is still fine because you have that regular base coat protecting your natural nails. Note 2: The ORLY EASY OFF BASE COAT is NOT a peel off base coat. It is a base coat that soaks off in ACETONE, but designed to soak off quicker than their usual base coat.

Could you describe how to “file off” that little bit of excess gel that you mentioned at the 6:12 second mark? I’m not really sure how exactly how you would drill it off and it would be helpful if you could describe it in more detail.

@@elsah3339 You would use an efile bit (typically called an under the nail cleaner bit) and flip your hand upside down. Then take the tip of the bit and file the small blob of gel at the tip of your natural nail off kind of like you use a pencil if that makes sense! Honestly, I usually skip this step. You only need to do it if you find removal tough :) Let me know if that’s unclear

​@@tybeaniebabies1, in case of tougher removal, sounds like you simply drill into a small circle in the "latch" area that you described that will loosen the whole thing up, is that right? How large of hole/piece into the latch do you create with the drill before soaking with water?

@@elsahill6480 Essentially, yes, but it's more of a "strip" than a "hole". For clarity, I file until the tip of my natural nail has zero gel left on it. It really is like unlocking a latch. Again, only necessary if they're stuck!

Hey Jen, I love this video, thank you so much for doing it! I recently tried the 7 to 14 day method and just could not get those suckers to come off except around my cuticle area. I had some builder gel on the lower part of my nail that the Koko & Claire seemed to have really adhered to, so I had to file the enhancement off of that part of it. I had to give up on Koko & Claire under gel polish - it was just too much of a nightmare to get it to release gel polish without leaving nasty stickiness behind, but I am excited that I might be able to use it this way. I'm going to tweak the method a bit and see if I can't get it to the point where they will actually soak off within 15 or so minutes! Cheers!

If u do an overlay for structure/protection of natural nail its always best to avoid removing it all ….I find the Jello Jello peel off base works well for this style of fill/design change

As it's a regular gel base coat I assume it needs soaking to take off? Do you keep it on and do another peel of coat on top of it? Or does it come off as well with the peel off base?

Thank you for this video!! 😊 Some nail technicians are also showing another protective nails method by applying a base coat and a top coat on the nail before the peel off base. Did you try this method? Why didn’t you pop off your tips? It’s quicker than soaking your nails in hot water.

The base coat/top coat method only lasts about a day (sometimes even less, all it can take is a bump and they come off). With this method I can wear my sets as long as I want before removal! They do not pop off like you mentioned, but this is the trade off for longer wear time 🙂

Could these methods also work for full cover nails with dip powder on top? I want an easier and healthier sometimes more often way to remove my dipped nails without any risk of damaging them again…they are STILL getting healthy and trying to maybe grow them and not need to do press ons anymore If not, how would you suggest to do that? Do yo have a video? Also I have gel allergies and cannot use gel nails or gel products

Yes you can! I find it helps to wipe the tacky layer off of the peel base first but then you’re good to go.

As long as it’s a soft gel it should work, and it seems like that product is! If you had one pop off, you may just need to apply a layer of primer on top of the Orly before the peel base 🙂💜

Shipping for the koko and claire base coat is about $14 where I live, do you think this method could work with regular peel off base coats like the ones found on amazon? (UNT for example). Or does the koko and claire one work because it peels off even if the nail has been prepped with the shine removed?

I am planning to test more budget friendly options soon, but the real difference between this one and UNT is that Koko & Claire is gel and UNT is air dry. In my experience air dry ones tend to not last no matter what. 😕 I haven’t tested it so can’t say if it works the same, but Sally Beauty has one by the brand ASP that might be worth a shot?

Love your videos! So i just got this peel base and i am having difficulty with removal. I also notice that anyone who works with this is using it over natural nail. I always have builder gel overlay/ polygel overlay, then color. Will This peel base work on top Of overlay? Should I put it on top of smooth surface like gel topcoat? Thank you

Thanks so much for watching! I'm assuming you mean that your nails are sticking too well during removal? If you apply peel base over any type of product, it will last a lot longer than if it were applied on a natural nail (method 3 I apply it over an overlay and usually wear for 2 weeks or more) because gel adheres best to other gel. If you want your nails to be removed easier there is no need for an overlay on your natural nail. I understand that overlays are there to protect your nails, but with peel off base I have experienced little to no damage, so it is unnecessary for this method. If you applied your peel base on a top coat it's likely they would pop off very quickly. So, yes, it does definitely work well on an overlay but the hold will be more intense. You will just need to soak your nails for longer most likely and ensure that the tips of your nails have no product on them so you "open the door" for water to penetrate. I would also not do any sort of prep (like primer or buffing) on top of your overlays. If you are using this under gel polish and not full cover tips, sometimes lightly buffing the top coat of your gel polish GREATLY reduces your removal time. Let me know if that answered your question!

Yep, that’s exactly right for method 3. I’ve used regular base coat and soft gels like Extend Gel. I haven’t tried hard gel but I’m pretty sure it would work!

Can you test the FZANEST peel off gel base coat from Amazon? I have been trying it and getting differing results every time. Also, is there a trick for getting regular nail glue to stick to a peel off? (Sometimes I make press on sets that don’t have enough clear left in them to use gel to adhere). First time the glue barely stuck, and someone said to remove the sticky layer first. So I tried that and still failed, lol. But other people seem to be able to do it, so it must be possible. My nails are super thin and damaged from being impatient and adhd (Pulling off gel/acrylic, etc. I know, bad lol). Thanks

I have considered it, but I can’t find any ingredients/company info on that brand so it made me nervous 😅 I may still give it a go. When I use glue I definitely do wipe the tacky layer off and sometimes add primer before the glue if I really want them to stay. If that doesn’t work, it could just be the base that you are using… The products may be incompatible. Sometimes air dry peel bases work better under glue but don’t last quite as long

Sorry for the confusion! I only apply it once. I said “another layer” only because it was the second nail I did. Poor word choice on my part. 😅 Steps are as follows: 1. buff 2. cleanse dust 3. dehydrate 4. primer only at cuticle 5. peel base 6. apply tip with gel seeping over free edge 😁

i dont know if its my peel off base coat (Orly brand) or if im using it incorrectly, but i used it under my gel polish and when it was time to peel it off, it took off a layer of my top nail :(

If you’re referring to the Orly Easy-Off Base Coat, I made the mistake of thinking that was a peel off base myself! It’s actually a regular base coat designed to soak off in acetone faster than their regular Orly base coat, whereas the Koko & Claire peel off base is designed to soak in water and peel

Yes, I have tried it! It worked, however I seemed to have to size up my press ons because there was extra bulk on the nail and if I used my regular tip it would pop off. Also recommend using primer between the glue and peel base. Best of luck 🤞🏻

I do this all the time. Cleanse the nail plate, add your peel base (I use JelloJello- the BEST IMHO and their remover is incredible), cure for 30 seconds, wipe off the sticky layer because nail glue will not stick to it otherwise, and do your usual glue on method. I get at least 10 days with this, depending on the amount of glue I use, and using the remover they pop right off within 15 to 20 minutes at the very most.
