Heath. Nice step by step video. I like the way you utilize the loop end of your wire to complete the barrel wrap. I learned the process a bit differently by holding the loop stationary and working with the tag end. I think your way makes more sense and look forward to giving it a try this weekend. Back in the Keys fir spring break with the family. I’ll let you know how it goes. Stay well.

Thanks a bazillion for watching and leaving some stellar feedback. Your observation of the method is spot on. I used to complete the barrel wraps with the tag, but a lot of the time, they seemed loose or not really packed together well... So I did a reset, and tried it this way with a way more solid outcome. Hope your family is doing good, everyone is healthy, and ready for an epic Keys trip. Always great hearing from you and having your support for the channel. Couldn't do it with out you. Thanks again for everything. Tight lines & take care ;)

Hi Keith, More good information to planer troll properly. There's a lot of technical facets to doing it right. Thanks for the information. Hope the family is well. We are leaving NJ on Saturday for Poplar Bluff, MO. No planer trolling there but they do have Large and Small Mouth Bass. Take care and good luck, Mickey

Hi Mickey, thanks for watching. Good luck with the move. Hope everything goes smoothly for you and your family. Sounds like you're already starting to embrace the change in your fishing dynamic, even though, you'll always be a saltwater angler at heart. The family is good, Avi says "Hello Mickey". Hope the same for you, that everyone is happy and healthy. Take care :)

Hi Heath, ""Hi" to Avi for me. We arrived in Poplar Bluff at 5 AM on Sunday morning. It was a 20 hr drive from NJ. My son-in-law was pulling a trailer with his 1970 GTO, so that made the trip a bit longer. Right now I''m watching the horses in the pasture behind the house. Hope all is well with the family. Take care, Mickey

I watch all your cool videos and figured you were the one to ask about a fishing spot (or how to find one) off shore. I will be going off shore from Aventura, which is by North Miami Beach, more or less. I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you

Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. I can definitely give you some information about spots. I use this link to find wrecks, it covers all of Florida www.electricbluefishing.com/eb_sub_menu/shipwreck_list_of_florida.htm Hope it helps in your hunt. Also, depending upon what you're fishing for, Florida generally has 3 reef lines. The first runs from about 30 feet to 90, the next is from about 120 to 180 and the third is from about 250 to 350. So, the deeper you go the more aggressive the predators get. Hope this helps. You can also email me at southfloridasaltwaterfishing.com and I can copy some more direct GPS coordinates for you. Thanks for all your support of the channel. Tight lines & take care ;)

Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. My "go to" planer size is a #6. That's what I've caught the most of everything, especially kings, with. Hope this helps. Thanks for your videos How about trolling live bait with planer for kingfish ? Thinking to do that, I am just afraid that the live bait might get torn from the pulling stress of the planer
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and proposing you idea. Unfortunately, live bait on a planer does not work. First, you are correct, however, it's not the pressure from the planer,, it's the speed you'll be pulling it at that will likely compromise your rigging of the bait. Next, live bait has been put through trauma and is trying to flee the stinging pain of the hook entry, meaning it will not likely swim in a streamline manner... It will go up, down, sideways, and pull away, causing resistance that will more than likely trip your planer, thus rendering the application useless. Finally, hooked live bait, can only be pulled so fast against their own will before they drown (yes you can drown fish). If you want to slow troll live bait down in the water column, you'll want to try letting out some line, then bridle a bell sinker to your line with a rubber band... that'll get you down there and allow the bait to swim freely, and the sinker can be clipped off and rubber band removed as you are retreiving your line. Hope this helps. Thanks again. Tight lines & take care ;)
