Actually, it's neither. Believe it or not, people from centuries and centuries ago got just as butthurt/offended as we did. One major difference is we can communicate it from wherever and whenever we want thanks to social media. Don't think that people now are more of a snowflake than people then. People tortured, killed, and went to war over petty things. People got offended when you talked about good things about black people. (We would consider taking offense to this as racist, but back then it was the norm.) Be glad we live in this time. I'd rather have someone complain on twitter and make themselves look stupid than someone taking it too far because they have the authority.
