No problem my friend 🍻. And yes you are correct. You can select as many pictures as you like to copy. However, if it’s thousands of pictures and videos I would recommend doing them in smaller batches just to be sure it doesn’t accidentally get cancelled midway through from such a huge amount.

I have a few questions, loved the video! Super descriptive & easy to understand! Do you think storing photos on an SD card the easiest way to store/keep photos, like I can export them off and if I want to see them again then I can just import them in - talking for phone storage purposes or what do you think is the best way to export photos off an iPhone to save storage? Also once I copy the photo to files/sd card, can I then delete the photo off of my iPhone once the transfer is complete or will the photo on the sd card be deleted? Also I want to do this with most of my photos like 30k-40 photos so what do you think is the best and easiest method for me to transfer photos that I can view and watch in full quality 10+ yrs down the road?

1st of all, I’m truly Glad you enjoyed and understood my video! 😊. Second of all this is an all in 1 answer to all of your concerns lol: YES just copy all of what you want/need to backup to the SD card… as long as the card is kept safe and undamaged, your photos, videos, and files will always be there whether you delete them off your phone or not, whether you lose your phone, change your phone or throw it in a blender 🤪. Lol. But once copied they will be there forever as long as the SD card is kept in good working order. So go ahead and copy your 30-40k photos… should be no problemo 👌🏾.

@@lexip7357 happy to help! I would suggest at least a 512gb SD card. That should be enough to not only backup the amount of photos you mentioned, but also allow you to have space for future backups. And yes you definitely can create folders any which way just like on PC or Mac on the SD card. As for the card not working on the older iPhone, iOS 15 should be ok… try reformatting the SD card to exFAT format using your PC or Mac and then try again.

Thanks my friend 😊. To copy pics from your text messages, you’ll have to ensure that you have them in your iCloud or on your phone in your gallery. From there, all you really need to do is simply copy them from your phone to the sd card as seen in this video 😊

In that case, if all you need to do is backup everything you have on the phone currently, then you can simply use this device with an SD card or as another option, you can also back them up to a flash drive or even a hard drive directly from your phone using this device I reviewed in my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3-1Z6iurtmXl9U Either method can work depending on your budget and whichever is easiest for you. As a pro tip though, I may suggest that you copy them in batches rather than all at once because I’m not 100% sure that it will copy so much data all at the same time… you can try, but if it fails, doing it in batches will surely work. Do you get an issue where it coppies garble like "._IMG_1316" Instead of "IMG_1316" WHy does it make a "._" copy of the photo along with the actual file?

Wow that sounds really strange. For me it does not create any additional files and I don’t notice any weird file name changes… it just copies the HEIC file (if you saved them in the native compressed format and not jpeg)… and the most I do afterwards is convert them to JPEG later. Are you sure that the copy process was complete before you removed the device? And do the image files actually function and open on another device such as your PC? Also did you buy the device brand new from Apple or a legitimate seller on trusted third party merchant sites such as Amazon?

@@KamaniBrown I bought the device at a real Apple store in person. So the product is 100% trustworthy. Most images work except a few. I save it to file like you. I selected the photos and then saved them to the SD Card. How do you compress your photos in the Apple gallery from JEPG to HEIC? I just selected the photos from gallery and copied it to the usb file like here. Once the grey loader circle 🔘 on the top right finishes spinning then I unplug it. So I believe it saved too. But when you do yours, you get no files with the “_.” In the usb?

@@42luke93 Ok. Well my friend like I’ve said I haven’t had the misfortune of having any of the files copy and not function or have any weird file names. To have them saved in the HEIC format though all you have to do is select the format in settings where you can select HEIC or JPEG… it’s set to HEIC by default though. My best advice to you is to leave the images in the default HEIC format on the iPhone and copy them to the sd card in that format, then convert them to JPEG once you have already copied them to your PC using a third party software… there are many free HEIC to JPEG converters on the net. This is the 1 I use: apps.apple.com/jm/app/imazing-heic-converter/id1292198261?mt=12. I understand if you find it a little annoying having that extra step added to the process, but it’s the best I can tell you right now to try and not have your files copy with problems. Hoping that helps 😊

Hello my friend. I wouldn’t be surprised if that 1 you are thinking of buying doesn’t work. Apple is very specific with the peripherals they allow to work with their devices. I would say to just buy the OEM card reader that I used in the video and done. It’s not that expensive and it will be guaranteed to work. Buying a 3rd party sd card reader may run the risk of not working and being a waste of money anyway.

Oh wow! That’s unfortunate! I’ve never had that issue since using it 🤔. Are you sure that you selected “copy” instead of “move”? And also did you make sure that the transfer was complete before plugging out the device? It was never said that you have to do this, but I also personally prefer to close the file app completely after the copy is completed before I plug out the device… not sure if it helps but I do it as a personal and logical precaution 😅. I’m hoping any of that info helps you in any way possible 😊.

I have a 30 minute video on my phone I'm trying to pull off. I have a 32gb card that won't hold it so I purchased a 1tb sd card and it says the file is too large. Before I keep buying different size cards, do you know if any size sd card would hold a file that large? Or am I saving it incorrectly?

@@twosisters2568 no problem! That’s a small file size though! And the format should be ok. I would recommend you try copying it using a different method; i.e. by holding down the file, selecting “copy” instead of “save to files”, then navigate to the sd card via the “files” app and then paste it there. Let me know if that works.

Thanks for tuning in 😊. I know exactly what went wrong… unfortunately you copied them in the native HEIF format that only works on Apple devices or if you use a special plugin on your PC. Your camera cannot read it so it will not show up. To get the pics to be saved in JPEG format (which is what your camera can read), you should not “share” or “move” the pics to the SD card… you should select the photos in your gallery on your phone and then select copy, then access your SD Card in the files app, then paste it there. The photos will then copy over in JPEG format… you should then be able to view them on your camera just fine. I plan to do a short video on this soon. Hoping this helps 😊

Yes indeed my friend. It’s the same method as shown in the video, but in reverse; I.e. simply copy and paste the files from the sd card to the “on my iPhone” folder via the Files app.

Really? That sounds strange. What kind of files are they? If they are images, did you convert them from the native HEIC format to JPEG? If not, then you can simply download a totally free app on your computer called “iMazing HEIC converter” to quickly convert them to JPEG and you should be able to open them…. As for videos, on a windows PC you simply need to download and install a free HEVC extension to open and watch them on your PC. However, if you copy pics and videos often from the iPhone to windows PC then you may need to change the default settings on the iPhone to JPEG and MP4 for pictures and videos respectively. The drawback will be that they will use up a lot more space on your phone, but you won’t have to bother converting when you transfer later. As an additional trick, you can also convert existing HEIC format images to JPEG for free right on the iPhone itself by simply going into your “files” app and creating a new empty folder, and then copying the images from gallery and pasting in the new folder you just created in the files app. It will automatically copy them as JPEG images. From there you can copy them off onto your PC and view as normal.

My old iPad I had no issues with transferring pictures to it. But the iPhone 23 and iPad 10 seems to operate different and I had not attempted to go from phone to so before. Thank you btw. .

But it may indeed be best for you to seek hands on assistance from your son or anyone else close by. I’m almost sure that simply giving the device permission and/or formatting the SD card should do the trick. Also please note that formatting the SD card will erase all files you currently have stored on it. So make sure to back them up elsewhere first. It should work, please check again and make sure that you format the sd card before using it. Ensure the SD card is in exFAT format. It may not come up as "untitled" either.
