Easily defeat Balthazar in Tactician mode AND get the loot - NO PUSH

In this guide I'll show you how you can beat Balthazar easily in Tactician mode without needing to push him off the edge - this means you get to keep the loot. He won't even get a turn.

The best way I was using, is: (combat spoilers) 1. use his "brother" in another fight before, where he dies (one enemy less) -- I call him mostly in the fight against Yurgir, where he is a good punching bag for the infernal 2. Attack him in his room, having poison resistance on all party members (he most likely uses Cloudkill) 3. his undead "friends" can be dealt with very easy in this small room using "Turn undead" from a cleric -- you than have room to concentrate on Balthasar himself The loot is the same, as much I can see -- and there is also some nice stuff in his room too!

This is not a hard fight at all even without cheese. You have shadowheart there. Even with her worst subclass trickery, just use Spirit Guardians and have her run around the arena hurting those skellies for free. If you multiclassed her into thief rogue for the bonus actions, you can spend them disengaging (so you avoid attacks of opportunity) and sprinting on that first turn you cast Guardians as well. Assuming you had a wizard on your team, wall of fire works well too. Throw in some haste potions and or the spells so the rest of the party can rush Balthazar down and you'll have a good time.

This fight is hard when your party is low initiative, as balthazar will usually start the fight by killing one of your squishy characters with double ray of sickness/cloudkill. If you are unlucky and very low initiative, then one of the big skeletons will come over and push one of your teamates into the chasm. In my first playthrough i started this fight with 2 of my teamates dead before i could take a turn.

my first time doing this was easy, but 2nd time was difficult. and they even kicked shadowheart into the chasm. which allowed me to save nightsong without having to go through the dialog with her.

On normal difficulty, I didn't have a problem. But when I tried it in tactician mode, it kicked my a** That's interesting about Shadowheart, I didn't know that could happen.

@@ThatBritishMo yeah, during the first few cutscenes where you speak to Shart, i was trying to convince her to not kill nightsong, but since i wasn't romancing her she insisted on it. So it was serendipity when she got kicked and died, and i saved nightsong. And when I resurrected her through Withers, i spoke to her she just said she failed Shar. then i just convince her she didn't.

@@chinaman1 You don't need to romance her for her to choose to spare Nightsong on her own if you allow her to choose. You just need to have seen her memory with the wolf and I believe you just need high approval for that.

@@MundaneThingsBackwards yeah, i guess i meant that I needed high approval with her. this was in my 2nd run and i was romancing Laezel. I was trying to try and romance Minthara too but it doesnt seems to work, so I just stuck with Laezel. next game I am gonna run Wyll and romance Karlach lol.

2:49 OH yeah. On my second playthrough and I used Wyll's Command to make Kith'rak Voss drop his sword, so Lae'zel has been a wrecking ball. My one disappointment is that walking into Creche K'liir the Gith at the front talking about 'Silver Sword Voss' don't recognize the blade on her back.

Definitely! I usually fight him in his room as well, but for this particular playthrough I decided to see what happened if I didn't. It's a great cheese that can be applied to many boss fights though so I'm glad I got to use it here. haha

If you kill him where you meet(in the Shar temple) him and it's easy.

Indeed. I have done that in previous playthroughs, but I wanted to see what would happen this time if I did not kill him there... I should have killed him there! haha. But I had fun nonetheless.

Totally disagree, I fought him twice once here and once whilst doing the shadowheart quest where you first meet him and both fights were easy asf

@@ThatBritishMo not really I just did all side quests B4 you meet him and the game glitched when he gave me the bell forcing me to fight him, and i killed him with my cracked out asarrion.
