Tomorrow I'm getting a i5 computer with 8 gigs of ram especially for Home assistant. How many full HD livestreams can I setup at the same time to show next to each other in a single dashboard? And will it help when I upgrade the memory to 32gb? The PC has a SSD installed in it.

if you have the modern camera with 8k, Reolink uses H.265 for encoding not H.264 ... I've tried a lot of combos but can't figure out how to get this to work in this setup

great video thanks for taking the time to make it if your loading the main camera feed to a mobile device I'm guessing you gould use lots of data with reloink you can also load the sub stream, less data etc

Does this still work? When I entered the code and restarted HA it told me generic camera is no longer supported and told me to remove the code. It sees my cameras but it never brings up the live stream. So I don't know what's going on.

I right click on the image, select 'copy link address', paste in 'still_image_url'. check configuration. Go to hass check with 'unavailable' results.

Did you try ONVIF? As far as I know with ONVIF you will get the motion sensor too.

I am not a security expert, but I would not use WiFi cameras in security contexts (watching your pets no problem). Wifi could be jammed before an individual gets into view of a camera. That said, I do have a Reolink wifi camera but use it only to watch out for our toddler when we are preparing food in the kitchen.

Dont follow this guide, add them with ONVIF integration so you also get Motion detection and PTZ / Zoom :)

Sometimes, the camera card in dashboard freeze, so we need to reload the page. Is there a way to configure that card to reload automatically in a time period based??

No there's no option to have the card refresh itself. TBH I found the generic camera platform to be pretty flakey. For me I was seeing those problems where it wouldn't load without refresh, and sometimes even had to restart hass before they'd work again. My solution was just to switch to the ONVIF platform instead. There's a bit more lag but it's bulletproof reliable.

@@ZackBarett Hi! I'm also in the process of building a house and I want to see what you did with the IOT, specially the light switch. Every week I change my mind on what I want to put. This week I saw the Shelly pro series of products and really think that's the way to go. Everything in the Electrical switch box seams a good idea and they would link with Ethernet with the switch instead of WIFI. And what about motion sensors is there any good options with POE? Do I pre-wire cables for that or just rely on wireless and batteries for sensors? Will watch your vids. Abraço!

You can insert the RTSP url they give and just add in the Username and Password into it. I use my Wyze cames as well for this

@@eclecticlight.design For a security camera, that is a long delay and not fit for purpose. Eg, drive motion sensor is triggered, Amazon delivery etc.... you look at camera display, nothing showing, but if you wait 10 seconds, you will see which door the delivery driver has gone to, What’s the point of this then? I could have just walked to front and looked out of a window. Technology is supposed to make life better in a smart home, not frustrate us! Aside from midnight on 31st December, I don’t imagine a delay on tv would make a difference but I’m more of a Netflix person myself. Something on demand that works as it should and convenient for me.

@@ZackBarett Network Video Recorder, just a live view would be great 😀 Sorry I’m not wanting to sound like an arse but then please don’t say live view 😀. I have a work around, a url card shows the camera live, unfortunately with that card you don’t get all the other great stuff like sensors or button presses etc. I love Home Assistant and am happy to contribute financially each month with nabucassa to support the project but when someone says live, I expect live, not delayed. Would you be happy waiting 5 to 10 seconds for a switch to turn on a light? I’m not a developer so when I see a url card with a live image or motioneye or Zoneminder integration being live I don’t understand why adding a camera into home assistant causes a delay to the image

For E1 Zoom will integrated by onvif integration match better. Then you will be able added ptz keys to this card between a text editor. You need go to text editor and add this: entities: entity: *your camera entity id:* icon: mdi: arrow-up tap_action: action: call-service service: onvif.ptz service_data: entity_id: *your camera entity id:* tilt: UP move_mode: ContinuousMove Add similar lines for DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT and ZOOM.
