Easily Replace Your 2007-2010 Hyundai Elantra's Oxygen Sensor
Welcome back! Today, we're working on a 2009 Hyundai Elantra and we're putting in the Bank One Sensor One oxygen sensor. The codes we're getting for this car are 2626 and 2251, pointing to Bank One Sensor One.
Let me explain a bit about what Bank One Sensor One means. In simpler terms, bank one is the side of the engine where cylinder one is located. If you have a V6 engine, you have Bank One and Bank Two. If you have a V8 engine, you have Bank One, Bank Two, and Bank Three. In this case, we have a four-cylinder engine, so we only have one bank.
We'll be working on the first sensor in that bank, which is Bank One Sensor One. I've already ordered the new sensor from Amazon and it's got both Bank One Sensor One and Bank One Sensor Two, so we can compare and make sure we get the right one.
Now comes the difficult part, getting the old sensor out of the exhaust manifold. With the heat cycles, these tend to seize, so I'll try using a socket that's specially designed for oxygen sensors and PB blast, but we might end up having to use heat.
We'll be comparing the new and old sensors to see if there's any difference. Once we've put the new sensor in, we'll route it and plug it in. And that's it! Bank One Sensor One is now replaced.

I did my own diagnostic for my 2012 Elantra Gl 1.8 litre engine and came up with P2237 O2 Sensor Pumping Current Circuit/Open Bank 1 Sensor 1 for the current engine light that came on my dashboard. Question, is this more expensive for part number 2325 Oxygen Sensor which I had previously installed by a mechanic 8 months ago that was attached to the catalytic converter underneath the manifold. Does that mean I have a bank 1 and 2 Sensor 1 and 2? Any help would be appreciated. Your video makes it so easy to install myself.

You should only have bank 1 sensors 1 and 2. Bank 2 is only for V6 or V8 engines. As for the P code, it would be for this sensor in the video not the one your mechanic already replaced

The P0030 points to the bank one sensor one O2 sensor. So if you are going to change bank one sensor one on your car, this video will show you how to do that.

Typically, this wouldn't keep your car from starting. Usually with a faulty oxygen sensor you will have a gassy smell and check engine light.

I don't get it. Why this 2009 has this problem when mine 2008 still good. How many miles has that car at the time? mine has 166 K miles and still everything is Original. How about cut the wire in the old one before removing? you going to toss it anyway?. BTW you teach me something new: Use my Impact gun

Be careful doing that. I could have cut the wires but I just wanted to make sure I could put it back in if needed. The life of electronic parts vary, some will last for ever and some, not long at all. Thanks for watching.
