2007-2010 Hyundai Elantra VVT solenoid replacement

Hello. Today I’m working on this 2009 Hyundai Elantra with the 2.0 4 cylinder engine. And I’ll be fixing the P0077 and P0441 code that it has.
It’s a fairly simple fix. P0077 comes up with the intake valve control solenoid which is what I’ll be replacing.
All you need is a 10mm socket and something to put it on and the following part.

Do you, by any chance know precisely the timing settings for vvt intake cam and standard exhaust cam.. ? I've seen black link and 6 complete in between... 5 links between the lines... 6 links.... on and on. Any clues???

Hello sir. I have a question. Do you know how the the OCV behaves on start up? I'm currently troubleshooting a persistent P0016 and have treble checked base timing which is perfect. I've replaced the Cam phaser on the end of exhaust cam. New Cam sensor also. Can sensor is good also but not replaced; pcm sees if it is left unplugged during startup and engine revs are affected accordingly. So, i removed the new ocv, plugged the hole in the valve tray with a rag and attempted a startup with ocv in the loom but out of the engine. I noted that it pulses during startup. Surely it should just retard during startup, and begin to advance around 1500rpm? Also.... can you please tell me ( if you know ) the amount of chain links between the mark on the vvt phaser and the inlet cam. This seems like a conundrum for all! Autodata says full link on timing mark on phaser, 5 full links and the next full link lines up with Mark on inlet cam. Hyundai Service manual shows 4 full links between. KZbin diy mechanics have shown Seven! Links between. Out of some desperation i moved the inlet cam one tooth toward the Exhaust cam to have only Four links between. I had no P0016 on start and drive but the vehicle would not pull at all below 1500rpm... it just splutters! So you have any pictures of your cam phaser set up ?????? I apologize for long message! How did 2009 have this problem? Mine 2008 has 156K miles and is still new. Advice: You are there already, why not clean the connector and use dielectric grease?

The connector was already clean and still had some grease on it. Seemed like someone had already replaced the sensor then broke it.

Tried to remove it and it was impossible. I just want to clean it but it was impossible to remove, so I just leave it along. Don't put problems where it doesn't exist.

Oh now I see why you’re mad. Advice: you could just use a large pair of vice grip pliers to pull or twist it out, if you’re getting the same code. Then you’re not putting a problem, it’s just there already. Also no problem should belong anywhere.
