Looking to use a 49 in as a replacement for multiple displays. Do games have to be in windowed mode in order to snap? Also, what's the framerate like with such a wide monitor and would using fancy zones up those frames?

Thank you for this! I've had a 49" Samsung for a year and finally decided to search for the ability to snap to three columns! Windows 10 has a "Side by Side" option but when you try that on a 49" monitor WIndows 10 shrugs, throws your windows wherever it wants and then runs away crying. Windows 11 offers an option in each Maximize link at the top of each window which is a good start for Redmond, but I've been using Windows since DOS, 3.1, 98, 98SE, XP, NT3.5, NT4, 2000, 7, 8, 10, etc--I've learned you do NOT install a new Windows version until 40 years after its release so the end user beta testers can get the bugs out.

Great to see this just a few hours after buying that 32:9 beast of a monitor ;) Just hated my triple Monitor Setup on a straight desk. Got a rounded desk with 4 screens at the office, this was never a problem as you turn with to the screen you are working on instead of just turning the head ;)

I can't thank you enough. I disabled the 'shift' key, so now I can just drag to the column I want (running 3) and release! I can also drag all the way to left/right for a half screen (windows default) or up top for a full screen fill. But being able to drag to 3 columns on my ultra-wide is so convenient. I just downloaded it and started using. I think you are correct--seems to be ideal. I have been using three 24 inch monitors on my other machine for years and wanted a similar experience and this seems like it. I like the priority grid view with three screens.

Yes you can remove the gaps if you wish. I can’t remember off hand where that option is but it’s definitely possible. You might find what your looking for in the pre made layouts….

One thing I wish this had was some kind of mouse gesture control. I keep my left hand off my keyboard pretty often while just doing daily tasks, so holding shift and shift+ctrl is a bit of a pain. Windows 11 solves this with the snap feature, by allowing you to snap a window to various layouts by hovering over the square top right button or by dragging to the top of the screen. BUT you can't customize those layouts... If FancyZones had a thing where you could wiggle the window in a circle to toggle basically the shift+ctrl hotkey, that would work perfect for activating zones even multi-zone combinations like I use, all with just the mouse hand without custom keybindings.
