I love your channel! I'm a first time homeowner one year into my house and it was built in 1965, my electrical wires are a hot mess, but I'm getting that taken care of, i wish my wires were clearly identifiable as yours are.. definitely subscribed though

I just finished your farmhouse table build last month and put the same exact light fixture up from Lowes! Absolutely love the table.

Nice vid, and right on time. Getting ready to change our dining room lighting as we speak!

I'm sure you know this, but the black wire is considered HOT not Positive. It's an A/C circuit after all. :-)

Thank you for this. Do I have to tuck the wires back in the ceiling hole?

Yes, exactly.

What if there are more than three wires from the electrical box in the ceiling? Do you splice them together to make the three wires needed namely hot, neutral and ground?

Good job :)

I have under cabinet lights in my kitchen that make a buzzing sound that drives me crazy. I believe it’s because they have a ballast. I really want to replace them with new led light fixtures that don’t have a ballast. But I’m not sure which ones to buy and how hard it would be to install them. I’ve installed ceiling fans and hanging light fixtures but the ballast situation is scary to me. I want them direct wired. None of that crap that you have to plug into an outlet. And battery powered ones don’t last long enough for me.

The wire in my new fixture is not long enough. Can I add more wire to meet my desired length? Or do I have to replace the entire wire?

You typically can extend the wires with additional wires and wire caps, but you'll want to check your local code to see what's allowed in your area.

The fixture looks nice, but I don't care for the bulbs. LED bulbs barely dim and are so harsh. I much prefer the GE Reveal bulbs, or soft white. Also, most LED bulbs use PWM (pulse width modulation) even at full brightness, as can be seen with many works lights. PWM quickly causes many people, including myself to get severe headaches. I've got dimmer switches on nearly every switch in my home and I stocked up on incandescent bulbs many years ago (they got really expensive towards the end). I've got a couple of halogen bulbs downstairs that dim a bit better than LED. And to end my tirade (sorry), I am so sick of hearing LED "upgrade" this and LED "upgrade" that from so many people I know and folks on KZbin, that I simply have come to hate the things now. I usually have my bulbs quite dimmed, so I doubt much energy savings over my incandescents would be negligible, nor do I care.

This is a very special case, viewers don't learn from you, how to mechanical attach a fixture to the ceiling (-33 %). Also, the wire caps seem to me like old fashioned, cheap, cumbersome and error prone material you should no longer use in 2020 (you can use quality material like e.g. WAGO-lighthning connector 224 or -lever clamp 221). Before you touch a wire, you should always check with your voltage meter, it could be, that you switched off the wrong breaker... "Positive" is not exactly right in the case of AC. Kudos for shortening the chains and the cable. You should should not say, "that's the way you (the viewer) should/can do it", but "that's how I do it".
