So the one hose with water is being sprayed on the smoldering ruins......while the intact side is left to burn?
@skidude89893 жыл бұрын
Yes that was as stupid as it gets especially on limited water supply.

Just posted the same thought. It's hardly rocket science, yet there are tons of videos on line showing god awful line placement

Well no need for me to make the same comment since you beat me to it. I didn't see any exposure he was protecting since he was downwind with heat and embers going that way. 🤷♂️ After 25 years in the fire service, and I still get to see stupid calls made on fire scenes, even some made by career depts that make a guy scratch his head. 🤦♂️

One of the 5 Rights of the First Line is Right on the Seat of the Fire ...... Not where this initial attack line is flowing. I know I'm not there but as a Training Officer I stress putting the water where it needs to go.

I normally do t comment on videos . BUT . The first 3 minutes really had me question a couple things . 1 - those cross lays were terrible . Both created problems for the guys pulling them . 2- why is there a FF with a 2 1/2 flowing water where the house is already destroyed while nobody’s protecting the part In compromised by fire ? Our goal is to save property and protect exposures . I’m sorry but this made no sense to me . Keep training gentlemen and stay safe

You don’t fight fire from the downwind side !
@prophet17823 жыл бұрын
Jim Wattenburger... True. Common sense. He should hv hit the fire from the rt side with the wind behind him.He wud hv put the intact side fire out and the wind wud hv taken the water to the smouldering end and put it out there. In a situation like that you hit the root of the fire ie the floor. Once the fire on the floor is out the fire weakens. The fire 10's of meters high is coming from the ground.

I don't think there is a dumber than a fireman who holds a hose and sprays against the wind, but if he was smart to make the water with the wind direction, the result would be excellent
@notthatdonald13853 жыл бұрын
They claim to have 9 paid firefighters in 3 stations 24/7. As well as others paid on an on call basis. As well as volunteers. They can't even pack the cross lays correctly so they can be easily pulled. The insurance companies, and NFPA should come down hard on these clowns. Nice website though....

If the guy with the first line did that initially, they coulda made a pretty fast, effective stop. Every video I've seen from these guys is painful to watch. More training needed, by far.

Deck guns work only if you can supply water draining your tank quickly leaves you standing around twiddling your thumbs From previous videos of this area there is a complete lack of local interest in funding this department so though no fault of there own they are under equipped, under trained and have little or no infrastructure, while I'm am very willing to knock bad practice sometimes you have to say it's the community's fault, unfortunately I think that this community will only get religion on fire and rescue when a disaster happens and they are looking at lots of dead kids
