Just a FYI , if you cut into that garage door about a blades length a foot away or even closer to that handle the door will go right up . All you have to do is cut that cross bar that locks both sides of the door . Normally one cut will release the lock and it will roll up

Probably have a garage door openers, and with no power and they're not going to open. You don't use those locks when you have a garage door openers anyway. An option might be to cut a little hole in the top center of the door and reach through and pull the emergency release and then the door to go right up?

Good job filming mike. Your closeups of the firefighters were great. Most people need a tripod they are shaking so much. And they film mostly the flames whitch is like watching paint dry. You had great up-close transitions. I ducted when the guy pulled the ladder off the truck I felt I was that close. The fire fighters are the story content and the fire is just the reason why. Keep up the good work. Retired Firefighter, James

we had garage by the NYS line on SR 11 where the last fire hydrant on the PA failed to work along with the line on the NY side of the boarder. @@chrisbarr1359 Hooray! I wasn't the only one who after one look thought 2 1/2 minimum attack line. This one was too far gone before anyone got there. When I ran with the Box-4 Fire Buffs in Dallas (1980's), SOP was first in, Deck gun, second in gets the plug. Unless...radio traffic "Pull up your boots and bring your water with you". Then everybody that could caught a plug. I remember before I became a volunteer Fire fighter, still a kid, I rode my bicycle to a 4-11 apartment fire 10 miles away and seeing two pumpers drafting out of the swimming pool. That was back before Houston ran enough 50 and 60 inch water mains so there was plenty of water. Another one, late 70's apartment fire, common attic, a block away there was one lone 1950's vintage Mack pumper, connected to the steamer outlet of a plug that had been hit by a car. Another pumper dropped 2- 21/2's off the side outlets(before the days of LDH). Mack pumper was pumping out all 4 of his 2 1/2 outlets...and driver made a comment that he was supplying 1/3 of all the water going on the fire and he still had 60lbs of static pressure on the main. Didn't make sense at the time, but I later found out the city had a 60" going west and a different 60" going north from the freeway. Now days, since that area has "grown up" the city has the 60" which was replaced about 10 years ago and added a pair of 48 inch mains down the same street. All 3 lines have booster pumps every few miles. No water shortages now.

What made you think to lead off with your smallest water line? No bucket to the roof to vent? Where was the interior push? Why were so many firemen standing around before the tower ladder got there? How long did it take for the first due engine company to get there? Why are members using equipment with no gloves? Why did the door have to be destroyed, when the front door was open and the window for the garage was also open? Why didn't the first arriving engine lay in? Are there career companies up that way? @@glennhuber4975 Well, it just so happens that I don't have to reduce myself to violence, like yourself. My tactics are leaned from years of experience from other aggressive fire chiefs and officers. I rarely engage in "stupid questions." Maybe you should re-read the solid questions of basic fire tactics. It is not my fault that your fire district is lacking in basic training, career staff and/or a staffed station. Actually Glenn, when I arrive or did arrive at active fire grounds, I was given respect because of learned aggressive and thorough methods of fire attack. I had the privilege of having many years as a lower ranking fire officer. I became well known as an aggressive and a basic engine, ladder and rescue company officer. The tactics leaned were because of chief officers before me that I respected. I trust that you and your department should do the same, instead of becoming a bully to those who are purely asking questions and not beating you up over sloppy and dangerous fire attack methods. Oh! I almost forgot to mention a lack of NFPA facial hair policy violations. Have a safe holiday.

@PhillipRhodes
@PhillipRhodes 3 жыл бұрын
Here's what gets me (not necessarily about this specific video, but rather in general) - most of the time, we get one angle, which shows maybe 120 degrees of visibility at best, with NO real visibility into what's going on through the vast majority of the fire ground, coupled with miscellaneous jump cuts which make it impossible to know how the video time corresponds to actual chronological time on scene, we usually know nothing about the specific department's policies, staffing, response times for mutual aid units, etc., etc., etc. So despite knowing a little bit about maybe 4 or 5 variables out of about 200 that affect the outcomes, the armchair quarterbacks instantly assume they know everything about what's going on, and proceed to pass judgment about what they see. It's quite ridiculous, frankly.
@louisc.gasper7588
@louisc.gasper7588 3 жыл бұрын
@@PhillipRhodes Oh, come on, now. Don't you know that a single KZbin video captures everything? And don't you know that anyone can analyze a fire from that video and reconstruct all variables? The fact, discovered after the fire, that it was probably arson couldn't have anything to do with the progress of the fire, could it? The comment that says they should have gone inside to be more effective in knocking down the fire is surely right -- even though the second floor of this house collapsed and would have killed anyone inside. All sarcasm aside, the commenters who have actually worked in boots and a helmet may have some excuse for critiquing the firefighters, but even they seem to me too often to lack measure and caution in their comments.

Not a critique of the firefighters .....because I’ve never done the job. But when it’s this far gone before anyone is on scene, why not just let it burn to the ground? Less use of resources, firefighters don’t risk life and limb making entry, and less crap to throw in a dumpster a few days later? Just curious. Seems a lot of these house fire videos on the Tube are total losses before anyone gets there.

Every fire department has its own skills and ways of dealing with these fires , im sure these firefighters wherever they are in the world do their best while risking their own lives after going through continuous ongoing training, just for other people and fire departments from around the world to slate them and put them down. Those who do just that need to get a grip and remember that sometime in these firefighters careers, theyve saved someones life! , someones property!, and someones child!!!
