Takegawa "Super Multi DN Meter" Instrument Cluster for the 2019 Honda Monkey (05-05-0052)

I have installed Takegawa speedo on my 2019 MONKEY. It is working great. I also installed 14t front and 36t rear sprockets that make the indicated speed inaccurate. Wheels and tires are sock. Setting the speedo's a - 4 function to 85% corrects the error and now matches GPS speed readings.

Just fitted my Takengawa Speedo/ Rev Counter thanks for the video! I actually watched a video from Unknownoverland alongside yours to install and managed to get all the wiring into the headlight bucket! much better because it keeps the connections from the weather or washing the Motorcycle! like he said it was a tight squeeze but you can just get it all in there! You have to cut off the plastic boot they tell you to put tape around to get it in there, but at least the connections are better inside than out! thanks, I went through his instruction video and yours to install it along with the helpful links to the pdf you both posted from the Takengawa website, how to install in English! Thanks for a great channel, ride safe! I think bar end mirrors for me next!

I have the new monkey with 5 gears. Will the gear indicator display the 5th gear? Does it take you through the 5 gear learning process? Great content always. Thank you!

On an ABS model, when changing the sprocket size, you'll get the ABS warning light cause your front wheel is not running at the speed the bike is expecting. This can be solved by a speedohealer to correct your speedometer. Do you think this can also be solved by just changing the speed offset on this speedometer? Or is the calculation for the ABS done before the signals are going to the speedometer?

I *assume* that calculation is being done prior to it getting to the dash; I don't think this speedometer is sending any info back to the ECU.

@@eastcoastish that was also my assumption :-) i also found someone else online stating the same. I’ve got a new front sprocket incoming together with the speedohealer, so i’ll install them both at the same time.

The RPM signal gets picked up from the negative side of the coil. You can see it in this video where I did a tachometer when I first got the bike to see where I split the signal from: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIjdkGuddtSsba8 (it's around the 12 minute mark)

It should fit. I don’t think they made any appreciable changes to the electronics for ‘25.

I actually ordered one and installed it after watching your video. I do have a couple questions for you that the instructions didn't answer. Can you set warning lights for different values? As in can I have my rpm warning light flashing and my oil temp warning steady on? Or am I limited to only one warning. Also... Does the fuel light turn on when you are low on gas?

Just got this, install it, set my ignition to 0.5 and high output, it didn't work, my rpm reads like 4k

The stock gage is 100% impossible to see when the sun is shining. Maybe the Honda engineers thought the Monkey would only be used at night

Yes, the engine light will come on if the ECU throws a code. The brighter orange light at the top will come on based on what you set it to for speed/RPM/voltage/temp.

Do you use the Aracer oil temp ( side of cylinder ) or the takegawa oil temp at the drain plug ?

Hi Kent, I see you have since changed to the Takegawa TFT display was there something you did not like about this one? I'm looking to upgrade my display and would like to know what you found good and bad about this display after sometime being used. I'm looking at the Takegawa Super multi DN meter and the Opmid multimeter but am unsure which to go with. Thanks for any advice, Stellio

Nothing was wrong with the Super Multi DN, other than sometimes the LCD was a bit difficult to see in direct sunlight. The TFT setup is definitely cooler and easier to see in all settings, but there isn't any additional functionality. I did end up modifying the bracket to center the round part of the TFT to be more like the Super Multi DN, I've got a couple of pics on Instagram that show that, I'll do a follow up video on it at some point too.
