@@noahmuskett9540 Basically because he was accused of killing Lucy and sent to prison for 20 years after Bobby admitted the truth Max was then released for good behaviour hence his return to the square on Christmas day 2016. His plan was to ruin those who blamed him for Lucy's death including Ian, Jane, Bobby, Jack, Lauren, Abi and Phil. They were the main people he was targeting for revenge.

When Lucy's Body was hauled to The Woods, it reminded me of a Miniseries in the 1980's called Celebrity, about three Friends who in 1950 one of which raped and killed a Young Lady and since it was rainy and there was no such thing as DNA in those days they were safe. One became a Journalist, One became a Movie Actor (In The Closet) One became a Evangelist and 25 Years later one of the three got shot (The Movie Star) and on The Witness Stand The Journalist admitted what they did but what they didn't know was The Girl didn't die, she passed out from Shock, she was known as Sister Crystal of The Church and Stabbed The Evangelist who raped her.

kate fevre he was about 13 at the time, his sentence was 3 years for killing Lucy and 3 years for doing bodily harm to Jane, so he will be 16 when he returns (he's returning in a couple of months)

I had my suspicions that it was either Jay or Abi. The only one who was ruled out for definite was Stacey because she was in prison at the time. This was confirmed in an interview behind the scenes of Lucy's death by the producer, Dominic Treadwell-Collins.
