When you watch these old episodes, you realise how far the current show has fallen, and gain a new appreciation for the acting in those days. It's so authentic to real life.

@@michaelcrawford5083 For me, after David Wicks left. I admit Ian getting shot was extreme, but done in a more plausible way than they would today. The gangster period around the time of the millennium had its moments, but not really about normal folk any more.

@@secretsymphony Eastenders from 1995-2005 was just getting ridiculous with its unrealistic story line's and too much repetition, EE tried to recreate the Den and Angie story line with Grant and Tiffany, Ian getting shot was stupid and it was't favoured at the time too, the roster from 1995-2005 was poor, the Ireland story line was crap. Steve Owen and Matthew was boring, there's a reason why the press were crapping on EE from 1995-2005, the golden era was from 1985-1994

@@michaelcrawford5083 To be honest, I can't place what happened too much between 95-05. I agree about Steve and Matthew. I did get bored watching it. The gangster period I'm referring to is with Dennis Rickman. I quite liked some of that. I always knew they would bring back Den because the way he left the show, intentionally, left room for it. I liked the storyline where Den and Dennis set Phil up. I thought that was quite well done. I didn't like how they killed Den. It was a sick joke.
