It's due to the writers more than the actors in my opinion. It became too theatrical rather than a gritty real life drama.

I know he was kind of Nigel Bates replacement but he must have changed before Nigel left. Probably during Vanessa storyline what do you think.

Even back in the day when I was little and I saw this, I remember thinking who does Frank think he is? He buggers off for two years, leaves everyone with literally nothing and expects to have everything they’ve all had to rebuild because of him. David was hardly a golden boy but he was right this time.

Thanks! To be honest I think David packs more of a punch both verbally and physically, but Frank is able to play on David's insecurities about his mother's love, which gets to David more than he could ever get to Frank. I'd love to see them in a punch-up though although I think due to David's stature and age he would definitely win that haha

Frank was knocking on a bit by this stage, but a few years earlier no contest, I've seen a few clips of him losing it , the 2 mitchells had to restrain him in the vic one time, he lifted ali osman up one time with one arm, stopped phil attacking ricky.

@@eastendersstorylines7822 Tbh I think Frank is a bit above his paygrade, even at this point, David would take him when Frank was in his old age but even then it'd be a close fight. Here David would've gotten the crap beat out of him. It would've been similar to the David and Grant "altercation".

There are different types of toughness. Roy was grounded and mentally strong. He would have lost a brawl to Frank but Frank was a basket case and a loser.
