He did one with Elvis starring Kurt Russell and it was good but you didn't really see his relationship with Priscilla. He got sued for 100 Million Dollars by all of the Beatles for misconstruing with what happened with Pete Best getting "Sacked". Hard to believe it happened 60 Years ago.

Phil knew that if he helped Ian out of this, he would never hear the end of it. Ian would make a fortune out of the flats and, even with Phil getting 50% of it, Ian would still probably make more than Phil. This was golden opportunity for him to settle all the scores with Ian and he had to take the opportunity. He couldn't allow Ian to get back to his feet financially. Phil did the right thing.

I know what you mean. When I watched The US Soap Opera Guiding Light in 1983, there were so many actors who died. When they finally meet in this scene, Phil does do something totally unlike him when it comes to Ian - he does show kind of concern for Ian. First, he informs him he left the door open and that anybody could walk right in. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is coming from Phil Mitchel to Ian Beale. Secondly and more important, Phil obviously shows some kind of concern for Ian's injuries. Those are two very small things, but show that Phil is a human being with feelings.

Albert Square don't play when it comes to Money. Remember when the folks came to the Slaters when Big Mo played a Scam. Ian looks at himself like some Hot Shot but he doesn't realize that when you "steal" you always get caught. Remember on Mad Men with Layne Price, Don Draper had to let him go because it would have been a big scandal.

When Phil said he does not like Ian and never has done, never a truer word spoken, when they first met in March 1990 in the cafe, Ian's attitude to Phil and Grant in the cafe was what made Phil dislike him, as Beale would not let Grant have his drink on tick. And from then on Phil thought Ian was a bit of a ponce, but hated him more when he became Ian's stepdad years later.

Yes but folks are so scared of Phil they don't call him on it. Like victor newman on Y & R. He made a Man named Michael a Prisoner, he all but caused Ashley Abbott's Breakdown, he marries one woman after another to get over Nikki and he can't. Then he takes over Jabot in a Hostile Takeover in 1989 and Jack gets it back in 1999.

Another person who got shafted was Aaron Carter who found out there were alot of withdrawals from his account. They had to bring in an Forensic Accountant to show him and he was shocked. The person who "Stole" from him was his Manager Jayson. If that weren't bad enough his Late Father Bob and Mother Joanne (Divorced) stole from him and when he came into his Trust Fund there was nothing left. He declared Bankruptcy so his Family wouldn't go to Prison.

God this was sadder and sicker than when Brooke Logan Forrester took over Forrester with 51% because she created a Wrinkle Free Formula called Belief and sent Forrester Stock through the Roof. She made them wealthier than they could ever imagine and she all owned them. Another example was when Victor Newman offered to give Jack Abbot Jabot (His Father's Cosmetic Empire) back to The Family if he divorced Nikki (Victor's True Love) whom Jack was married to at the time.

The point of this entire scene and episode is not that Phil refused to help Ian. We all knew it would happen. We all knew there was no way in hell that Phil would ever do anything to help Ian, unless he was literally dying, from which he would save him only for the sake of Ben. The point was that, with one sole exception, literally everybody sent him to hell in this episode. This just proves Phil's point - Ian has been doing nothing but making enemies and exploiting other people's misfortunes for his entire adult life. Only one helping him turned out to be his ex-wife Mel. And she did it because she obviously felt sorry for him. And, lets be honest, she also had million reasons to send him to hell. Every single one of his wives had millions of reasons to send him to hell and watch him go down. For years, nobody was spared from Ian's ambitions. This was trully nothing more than a justice. To this day, even after all these years, I still think that Phil did the right thing and I fully support him.

@@rs-qt1qg That was the tip of the iceberg. Phil actually lost out not lending Ian the money. Had he of done it Ian would have sold those flats and been able to pay the 4k he nicked back to Phil. He explained to Ian he wasn't helping him because he didn't like him. That was the sole reason. When he nearly went under the second time Phil helped to save him from losing his businesses by stopping Joey ripping Lucy off.

It wasn't just Kathy. It was years and years of Ian trying to destroy Phil at every opportunity he ever got. Plus, its not just Phil who refused him. EVERYBODY sent him to hell as Ian has been doing the same to everybody for years.

God almighty! It's heartbreaking to see someone who is desperate like that. I remember watching US Financial Guru Suze (pronounced Suzie) Orman talking about financials and she said that when you are a child, you're first experiences with Money affects you more than you realize. Ian grew up in a Blue Collar Environment, his Father had a Fruit/Veggie Stand, and his Family always struggled he wanted to do better but he got more setbacks.

In Ian's circumstances it was, because he was in no position to simply start afresh, everything he owned was tied into the businesses and money he owed everyone and stood to lose it all, and on top of that he had 3 kids to provide for.
