Loved EE back then in 1995. Much better than today.

It's kind of shucking how much better. When did they give up not being a self parody? Because that's what it's turned into. I guess that's why a lot of die hards loved Kat's return episodes last year where Mo told everyone Kat was dead to scam them out of money. It was self parody but..,I guess, well written self parody? Tony Jordan wrote it. I didn't like it at all though. When you watch Kat from 2001 to 2005. she had a tarty dress sense but it wasn't boobs falling out and overkill leapard print all the time. She wore jeans and trousers a lot, she always wears skirtsd and dresses now. Why? Because that's what EE has turned into, it's shallow. Thanfully, there's thousands of episodes to see. I've seen a lot of old EE over the years but there stlll chunks I haven't seen or haven't seen for a long time so have forgotten. 1995 to 1999 and then the early 2000's are actually the era I've seen the least of. I've watched numerous months from 99, 00 and 01 this year though. Years ago there was a channel with slater/kat scenes so I was able to watch a whole bunch of that but not so much of the rest of that era at the time.

It was the show's 10th anniversary and Buzz couldn't have been better and this was the days BEFORE social media. It really was unmissable then.

Times have changed since the 90s. For the better? No. But I think EastEnders today is good also. It's a bit far fetched at times but it still has me glued to the telly for half an hour and I still think it's the best soap in the UK

Sam should have taken David to her bedroom instead. That would have pissed Grant off even more! Lol

Davids trolling of them was good value. Grant absolutely walloped him in his first few months on the square and brutalised his face but he didnt back down after that carried on with the wind ups.

Can you imagine EastEnders conversations and dialogue being this realistic nowadays? The conversation at the table at 8 minutes is like nothing we would see now. It might not be the World's best writing, but it feels real. The scene is a bit too exposition - y but it seems like a conversation real people could have. Obviously exposition type info dump are a bit clunky in tv/film.

i always thought that, the eastenders dialogue in the 80s and 90s felt very real, people spoke to each other like they do in real life, same with the bill, really good cast at the time this was from, this was the year they dd the trip to spain.

Grant Mitchell is the Best Soap Bad Guy in British Soap History (10/09/2022)
@bensmithkent224 ай бұрын
He wasnt a baddie as such, that title would go to steve owen, dan sullivan, tricky richard cole those types maybe even david wicks. Grant was a bully and a nutcase became “bad” during his relationship with tiffany but a family man at heart. Bad guys tend to come and go he was part if the furniture from 91-99.

The current writers of the show need to go back and watch the old shows like this and go back to writing it like it used to be written.

It's not just the writing. They can never recapture the 90's brilliance of EE because they will never have the same class of actors.

Love Barbara Windsor. Proper East end lady. I do think when she played Peggy she played a bit of Violent Kray and how she was with Ron and Reg Kray. Because she did mix with them for a while. Rip Barbara ❤❤❤
