EastEnders theme

Recreation of the original 1985 EastEnders opening theme tune. I created this in Cubase in November 2014 and used the HALionOne and Groove Agent One (with Linn Drum samples) VST instruments and a Yamaha TX7 for the sounds. The theme was composed by Simon May and Leslie Osborne. This version was created by Oliver Sacker.

Though I suspect it was merely an unavoidable by-product of trying to recreate a human whistling, digitally, the slight vocoder effect on that part sounds really good. The current version used on the show sounds a bit too gentle. The crisp notes and heavy kick of the original subtlety demanded your attention.

The original wasn't a human whistle. It was electronic . Well it certainly sounds like it isolated on the master tapes. Simon May's production at this time was top notch and everything was beautifully mixed and recorded.

The "bells" sounds the exact same as in the original 1985 theme!

Thanks, I'm pretty sure it's the Yamaha DX7 Tubular Bells preset (ROM-1 A 26).

@@OliverSacker Yes it was. Most of the synths used were the DX-7 except the string pad and the real piano. The Emulator II did the sitar and other percussion samples
