My parents and I moved away from Thamesmead in 2010. Even though Thamesmead is rather grotty these days, I imagined the Julia theme playing when we moved. Especially when my mum started crying as we went out the front door of our old house for the last time.

Lacks a bit of the intro and the twangy bass, though nice detail maxxing up the synthy choir, gives it an especially haunting feel. Both versions are extremely moving, though the original was probably better for the rare happy endings (and transitioning triumphantly into the proper theme) while this version is better for solemn endings like deaths or funerals.

The version used on Eastenders is slightly different to this. The bit at 0:22 repeats the section at 0:05 normally. The version used in Frank's funeral was at a more higher pitch also. The bit at 1:16 I think was Frank's version.

Mark Heath DON’T ask. Switch on after just 4-5 weeks and you’ve got different characters. The storylines are shockingly dull, with the producers thinking people WANT to watch people sitting in their kitchens talking crap.. AVOID at all costs. Christ, whatever happened to the thrilling storylines of Matthew and Steve (Saskia), Sonia’s baby, Little Mo and Trevor..?
