We have 3 easter egger chicks, approximately 6 or 7 weeks old, and they are sooooooo cute!! They are the friendliest little chicks. They all hop on me whenever they get the chance lol. My BCMs on the other hand (black copper marans) are much more stand offish.

Thanks for the video, I cannot believe after just 3 weeks they are that big.. Nuts. We are getting a few ourselves and will have to give away some(minimum online order of 15) which is going to suck because I can tell we'll grow attached to them as it seems you have. Good videos, hope your channel does well.

Hey thank you! And congratulations on your new babies!! That was totally our plan as well - we planned on keeping 3 or 4, but ended up keeping 9 because you’re totally right, I got way too attached. 😅 Keep me posted on your flock, it’s going to be a blast!

Thanks for the awesome video I just got two Easter egger baby chicks. Yeah. But 7 days before When I got there, she only had two left and one would probably not make is 😢. I took them, sadly the same day it past. Now we have Heidi. She looks like baby cookie, and now we got her 7 days and yesterday we went to tractor supplies to get her companions and the same, they would only sell 4 and up. But I only have a henhouse for 2-3 chickens. So what now. I simply ask the family who just bought 6 if they willing to take two as a present and yeah they did, so now we have a Little flock of 3. So glad Heidi is not alone anymore Olga and Yule all are eating drinking beautifully peeping love the sound. My chicken run is 6 feet to 8 but my fenced in backyard is 50 by 70. I had 7 years ago 1 Orpington buff and 2 Easter egger. ❤❤❤ so much fun and love the green/blue ish eggs.

Just watching this today 3/19/20. I’m just curious if any of your chicks turned out to be roosters?? I have two EE chicks now (1 week). And one is noticeably different than the other.... I will be so sad if it’s a roo- can’t have them in town.
@OakAbode
@OakAbode 4 жыл бұрын
We did not have any roos! They really can vary in appearance, since they’re all little mutts. It’s near-impossible to spot an EE too at 1 week, so I’d try not to worry! Reptar was always much bigger than the rest and she did turn out to be a hen ☺️

Oak Abode - thank you for responding! I am crossing my fingers! One has feathered out nice like the Orpington and Barred Rock, but the other has no tail yet, is bigger than he others, stands taller, is much fluffier, and has a wider comb. 🤷‍♀️. I was encouraged by your video though- they all turned out so different and some of yours even look a little like roosters. I guess I just have to wait. 😊

@@walkbyfaithfamily9177 Oh man, it's that suspense waiting to find out that's killer, isn't it! So far I've been lucky and had 14/14 hens, but I just got 5 more chicks this year so I'm crossing my fingers for the next few months too!

Oak Abode - yes!! I keep thinking I better go get one more baby EE before these chicks are too big to add another to the flock..... just in case. 😆. I really want some colored eggs! My husband says “No!” He thinks I’m crazy already. 🤣

So help me out here. I don’t have chickens yet. Hopefully within 2yrs (retirement). We are NOT ALLOWED to have roosters either. I am predominantly vegetarian. My girls will be strictly layers. Wtheck am I to do if I end up with a rooster??? If I raise that thing for months I CANNOT hand it over to someone to get slaughtered. I would die. Please help me. How do you handle that??

2nd one looks like a roo. I haven't had very good luck getting hens with this breed. I guess they're very hard to sex as new born chicks. I've bought chicks twice and ended up with a roo both times. I have bought 4 chicks and its a 1/1 ratio of pullets and roo's.
@OakAbode
@OakAbode 5 жыл бұрын
Bummer, I'm sorry! Originally I thought she was a roo too. As it turns out, I totally lucked out with 12/12 females from Tractor Supply. I've definitely heard this "breed" can be harder to sex than many, though!
