Easter Eggs - Fallout New Vegas (Normal)

Just a comment about some of these "Easter eggs", New Vegas uses a lot of the pre-existing model cachets from Fallout 3 this is why Obsidian was able to make New Vegas so quickly, Bethesda simply handed over the Game engine and pre-existing files to Obsidian for them to craft a sequel and as a result many of these "Easter eggs" can be found in fallout three as well...TES-04 for example. Just an interesting factoid.

Another example of an "Easter egg" that is actually just a reused asset from the old Fallout 3 files is the Nellis training pods, these are simply reused hollow pods from Vault 112 in Fallout 3, they always had screen shots from Tranquility Lane showing on them during that section of the game for obvious reasons.

Camelworks Not to seem like I am rushing to defend the developers but I work as a QA tester in the games industry and work very closely with developers in our studio. Devs generally use modular assets to save time on production and cost mostly because publishers/execs have ridiculous deadlines. Would be awesome if it was a designed easter egg. Personally I liked the one in Hidden Valley, great video though :)

The change in screens you're talking about is only applicable to the pod the player uses, the rest will just have a tech feature implemented to change what is displayed every few seconds. So they did actually use the applicable version in that case.

I think that Sarah is a reference to Sarah Lyons from FO3... she is the chick that helps you in the main story and the daughter of Elder Lyons. She also has the same appearance in both games. Sarah Lyons and Elder Lyons both knew James and Lilly (the lone wanderer's parents) and helped in project purity the first time.

Sarah is actually the name of the daughter of the Elder of the Brotherhood of Steel's D.C. chapter. She becomes the Lone Wanderer's ally late in the game, and was there when he sacrificed himself (supposing you chose to and did not have the Broken Steel DLC.) Maybe she took the photo with her to remember the Lone Wanderer by. (The only thing I can't explain is why she works in a hotel now.)

The Less Than Jake song is about him and the time where he apparently went apeshit and broke their bus. Hi, can i just say that the "ice cream" science check for the securitron, could be a nod to a stat check in fallout 3. In one of the factories, a robot will eventually stop you, thinking that you are the ceo. if you dont have the password, you can say "ice cream?" with a high luck stat. or you can yell "i scream!" if your int is low. both of these are considered to be the right password, as the password is ice cream.

The first easter egg is a reference to the RobCo CEO. Inside of the RobCo Headquarters, on the third floor, you will come across a terminal to add your face to the the facial recognition system on the third floor. DO NOT USE IT. You will then encounter a facial recognition scanning robot. If approached by the robot it will say "The third for is for CEO's only." If your luck is high enough, you will be given the speech option of "Icecream". If selected, you will be allowed to continue.

There's one other thing that might be an Easter Egg by the loosest definition of the term (more of an "Actor Allusion" to use TvTrope-ese). The Omertas have the whole "Mafia" theme going. In the movie "The Godfather," (arguably the best known piece of Mafia fiction) the Corleone Family's Las Vegas operations were run by Moe Green, who was played by Alex Rocco. Guess who voices the Omerta boss, Big Sal, in New Vegas?
