Easter Give’r 2024 PT1 - Big Lonely Doug - Dualslporing Van Isle S4 E3 - Honda CRF250L

The Easter Give'r is an annual social event put on by Kevin and Summer, @upeveryroad on instagram.
This was it's third year and it saw 47 bikes with 49 riders - two were two up!
Ian from @motorcyclesandpancakes came up from Oregon to join in on the fun.The route winds its way from Lake Cowichan and then. along the west coast of Van Isle until turning back inland and making its way back to Lake Cowichan. All in all about 5.5 hrs.
The weather was excellent this year and there were many happy faces to be seen.

Ah yes I've been up there 2-3 times. To be honest I chose not to attempt that steep bit there the times I was there as I am always riding solo so decided not worth the risk. Love that long bridge just before that bit there though. One year I stumbled upon a few dozen logging protesters that had set up an encampment very close to the bridge there. It was a few months before it really gained traction in the news. You see the odd person here and there out there, was pretty strange to run into such a large group. 40+ bikers would be even funnier, haha. One of the "leaders?" approached me and explained why they were there. I let them know I was just out exploring, they were cool and wished me a good ride. Perhaps I should try out one of these events sometime.

Ya, the camera really doesn’t do that last bit of a climb justice. It’s a lot gnarlier than it appears, although the two on the Kove just crawled on by 🤣 I too have come across protestors out there and once I talk to them and tell them that I’m out to dualsplore and enjoy the wilderness they’re always very cool.
