The Bongo (Bongo eurycerus) is a large bovid native to the tropical forests of Central Africa, it is one of the only two extant members of the genus Bongo, the other is the Sitatunga (Bongo spekii), there are two subspecies of bongo: the Lowland Bongo (Bongo eurycerus eurycerus) and the Mountain Bongo (Bongo eurycerus issaci).
