wow, that turtle was small! i built s/he a new house (05:39). and s/he wasn't the only baby we came across. Big & small - we now have the the Eastern Box Turtle everywhere. HEPPY™ works with the environment (except deer :/ ), and all natural, organic and our Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapine carolina) population is growing!

😂 I love this! I happened upon your videos because I’m starting mulberries and then went to your next because your great info! When I saw you had wild Eastern Box Turtles I was jealous. I have a spicy boy who’s a rescue. Found by the side of the road with healed cracks from being run over! I also have a 70 pound tortoise. The eastern will charge him and try to bite his legs but gets nowhere 😂 We are in the process of designing a garden as well as replanting native trees on the 12.63 acres we are now under contract on. I see deer fencing in my future too!

not spicy boy but spicy attitude! 😂 u must be in warmer climate (tortoise); i wish u the BEST on 12 acres! and thanks for taking care of Spicy; they are amazingly resilient. there are SO many fruiting plants (heppy.org/plants); take your time and enjoy! remember, it's ALL about the soil. if u haven't already, u may want to learn to graft; it's a very inexpensive way to grow many varieties. thanks for stopping by!

@@heppylifestyle Where we currently live is zone 10b /9a so the Sulcata loves it and mostly freeroams house and yard. Property we bought is ways a way and is zone 7b. I’m looking forward to learning grafting as my next door neighbor growing up had an ancient, huge apple tree wife five variants and I had free access. What is the easiest plant to learn grafting on do you think?

@@heppylifestyle Oh and I know my soil at least! I used to grow 20 varieties of heirloom tomatoes and it was magical.

@@hilarylewis1221 zone 10 & 9 is toasty; 7b is nice. easiest plant to learn grafting is a great question. i'm thinking fig because the wood is soft but, fig cuttings are SO easy to root! but it's something the use for testing. experiment on less-important limbs; ultimately, line-up the cambium layer (scion to receiving branch), seal the joint and grafting in spring is key. Pawpaw, Persimmon, Plums, Apple -- have a good, clean knife and good clean scion and seal it up. You'll be fine! i've seen a guy grafting to old trees; it seems totally doable (even if u get 50% success -- scion is easy to get or buy). also, growingfruit.org/ has a LOT of seasoned folks who talk about grafting, post pics of their grafts and the grafting method used. keep me updated and have fun!!
