Does anyone know what vest Dave is using these days? It's definitely not the Grand Slam any more, and it looks like he may be using custom rubber shoulder straps??

Public ground Spring Turkey Hunting....No thanks! I can do a righteous job of screwing up my own opportunities without having other hunters do it for me.

Looked like a spinning rod to me Dave. A fly fisherman would NEVER spook a turkey!

I think I recognize the area you're hunting here and between the trout anglers and the mushroom pickers you're sharing the woods with a lot more people than you'd expect...I'd still go back and do it again though, pretty neat country.

I've spooked my share of turkeys for sure, but some seasons it seems like every breathing critter doesn't want me to kill a turkey lol. I've had people, dogs, coyotes, and deer spook turkeys many times. Even had an old ornery fox squirrel run a bird off on several occasions in the same spot one season. It's tough boy lol

That sucks for an ending, sorry Dave! On the other hand, can we talk about the deer trails on those hillsides? Man, seems you could fill the freezer with the deer in the area there. Drop a pin, lets see some deer videos out of there in the fall! Good luck with the next hunt, brother!

Enjoyed watching your hunt Dave. It took me back to so many hunts I been on over 33 seasons. Chasing turkeys through thick brush in unknown country only to end up staring at nothing but dirt and more brush! Good times👍🦃

Glad you survived those inclines. I noticed your tube call is different on the end than any I have used or seen. The latex covers most of the end leaving a big gap. Have you experimented with this?

Not necessarily the same situation as you found yourself in but last year we parked at a lot with no other vehicles, ended up walking back 3 miles and killed a bird and was walking back and ended up walking through someone’s set up as we were pinned between the lake and about 100 yards of public in between the private. I kinda felt bad but realized they walked in on a piece knowing someone was in there. Wish some people just had common sense and went elsewhere. That’s the way hunting public goes, which you already know.

All that effort to get the drop on the wrong kind of turkey! Nobody can accuse you of a lack of effort in your hunting after watching this one.
